Alpine Type R components sound absolutely amazing. i heard some coaxial Type S Alpines and they ROCKED! imagine the Type R components!

My little brother has a pair of Type S in the front and he swears by it.

Back to the subwoofer for just a bit, I borrowed someone's Dual 600 watt amp and hooked it up. I'm afraid it's my amp just not powerful enough because with the Dual I cranked it up way higher with much higher bass levels and I got absolutely no distortion and enough bass that it made me dizzy. I guess I'll be selling this Jensen and picking up something with 600 watts.

I'm never buying Jensen, Dual or any other walmart brand I like kenwood but they are a bit expensive. Is Sony Xplode crap too, just like anything else Sony?

My head is still pounding and I feel like throwing up because I cranked up the bass so much.

They call it xplod cause thats what it does lol. I do not like sony at all for car audio. I just think there are a lot better companies that you can buy from for sometimes better prices. Ive been through a lot of subs, JBL, Sony, Jensen, Audiobahn, Pioneer, and Pioneer Premier. Out of all those, the top rankers in order from best to ok went Premier, Audobahn, and then JBL. Any other that I listed I didnt much care for at all. Ive had sony xploding door speakers, they sucked. Dual doors, sucked worse. And my premier D series that Im running now and am completely amazed with and will never buy another company again. When I first bought them, they still came with a yellow cone and they were ranked like the number 2 best coaxial on the market, although I heard the infinitis and would still have chosen premier. Just remember that your gonna have to fork out a little cash to get a quality system. I got alot of my stuff through trading and whatnot, but I like the stuff I actually bought best because it was what I liked and researched. Just do your research, go to a stereo store and listen to a couple different setups, and take your pick. Be careful in those places though and remember to go for what you like, not what they like. The people that work in those places earn commission and will try to sell you like a used car salesman. Just be careful. IMO, I highly recommend anything from premier or infiniti. Good stuff.

Thanks lancerman. I will go shop around on my next paycheck so I can get the right thing.

Funny thing is my subs, even after I poked a hole in one did very well. Remember that they are facing wrong way too. All things considered if I were to get a good brand 600 watt, that'd be WAY better than Dual 600 and that gives me assurance that I will like whatever I buy, as long as it's compatible.

I know enough now that I can go to a store and pick out the one I like and be compatible without a used car salesman's help

Good for you. They can be very convincing though. If your going to keep those subs, you may want to run and get some silicone, or I think they sell actual sub repair glue, and smear it over where you ripped the seal. Glad to see things are working out for you though.

I have the Dual for a few days, I'm going to enjoy it well and in the mean time I'll get something better.

well if the amp is the problem, then i highly suggest hifonics! hifonics is what I had when i hit my 135.7 db with my 2 kicker L7s. these are some videos of that system:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I9EAIpBqPbg

i found some product numbers for you to look up and some links. I SWEAR by Hifonics! Trust me!!!! and also, DO NOT buy from a store, always order online it saves a TON of money.

these are based off the fact that I assume your subs are approx 300 watts each!

Hifonics: TXI6408, ZXI 4410, ZXI 6410, ZXI 1010

Links (in order):
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...+TXi+6408.html
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...+ZXi+4410.html
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...+ZXi+6410.html
http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...+ZXi+1010.html

Since Dual is underrated and you probably arent getting 600 real watts, options 1 and 3 may be a little too powerful (but allow room for expansion if you want), but the 2 others should work fine.

Agreed with the online thing. But that shouldnt stop you from going to a store and listening to a couple different setups and figure out what you want.

yeah thats true, get a feel for the way things sound and how different brands sound and physically feel (how sturdy and strong the amp is) then take those ideas online, but i still suggest Hifonics, relatively cheap and they get the job done nicely!

i have a pro logic dual ported box with 2 comp 12s in my trunk, and i still have a good 20 inches from the box to the trunk latch... you can do with out a box,, buut thay are gonna 1. sound like s*** 2. your not going to get that much bass out of it. it needs some sort of enclosure in order to sound great and have a nice deep smooth bass to it
