I did this a couple of years ago, but thought you guys could benefit from it if you are looking for a good sounding alternative to an FM Transmitter.

I picked up a Clarion Stereo on sale on Crutchfield with AUX and usb inputs, then got a cheap ebay window swivel iphone mount and cut off the suction cup end, keeping the tightening bolt and nut for the swivel. I then mounted said bolt to a steel L-bracket, and slid it in the gap above the stereo. Since the stereo angles slightly upward, the bracket stays in with no issue, even during hard driving. It has never moved or fallen out. I've actually used this in a bunch of cars with an aux input. Just so there is a gap in the trim that goes horizontally, this should fit in, just so you just can't use too thick of a bracket.

This should work with any phone that you can buy a swivel car mount for.

The mount cost $4. Stereo was $65

I can provide more detail if anyone is interested.
