Amplifier question
Amplifier question
Ok guys I've decided to put a system in one of my trucks (Its my first time) I have a sony headunit 52 watts per channel in the front I have 4x6 speakers (dashboard 2 way PIONEER TS-G4647 100 watts) and 2 rear speakers (6.5 door speakers 2 way Pioneer TS-G1647 150 watts) , now I wanted a little thump so I'm going to add some subs (havent determined what size yet)
Here is my question, I want a decent sounding setup (not too much $$, its only a beater) will the headunit be powerful enough to drive the 4 speakers to get good sounds? I obviously need an amp, if the 4 speakers are non amplified will the amplified subwoofer overshadow the normal speakers?
Also, is it a good idea to get a 5 channel amp maybe, something like 25 x4 and 300 x 1 ? is that too much of a load on the alternator? and since the headunit is already 52watts and the amp will provide an additional 25 watts per channel the power rating is 100 is it even worth it, will it distort (I know the power rating is higher but still) just need some suggestions for my setup its a 91 chevy blazer 4 door.
you guys kick ***!
thanks in advance

The head unit will drive the interior speakers just fine, thats what it's made for. Just got an amp that matches up well with whatever subs you decide on. I've had pairs of 10's in my last two cars and then did the trick nicely. good luck and let us know how everything turns out.
um first throw away the sony and pioneer and get some decent stuff.... but yeah just grab a mono amp.. and 2 SVC subs and ur set... im guessing the H/U has a pre-out right... Oh and by the way when u hook up a 4ch amp to your speakers the internal amp in the H/U will not be used anymore.. so no u will not be getting extra power that way.
