Wiring questions
OK,
I finally got all my stuff together for my new system in the evo. Here is a rough breakdown of my parts:
-shoddy Aiwa MP3 player pulled from my old car (will replace soon with dvd player, most likely the kenwood double din fold down one)
-1 JL Audio 300/4
-1 JL Audio 500/1 (will upgrade to 1000/1 eventually)
-1 JL Audio 12W7 Sub
-1 set XR-650 CXI coaxials (rear deck)
-1 set XR-650 CSI components (fronts)
Now I am in a bit of a rub when it comes to my wiring. JL sells an amp kit that i can get for around 100 bucks:
XA-PCS2-2
2 AWG 12-Volt Power Connection System for Two Amplifiers,
20 ft 2 AWG power wire (red), 10 ft 4 AWG power wire (red) and
10 ft 4 AWG power wire (black)
If i get this i will still need RCAs and speaker wire, which isn't all that expensive. My question is does anyone think this is a decent deal for wiring? Or should I just go get the wires i need by the foot? I don't want to go cheap on my wiring, but in turn don't want to buy stuff I don't need.
Thanks!

For first time installs, amp kits are great so if you havn't done this before then go with and amp kit, however if you are somewhat experienced then measure out roughly how much wire you need and buy it by the foot, one thing to remember is not to get to high of guage wire as you will loose power and gain interference.
wow, nice setup, damned close to mine :P (I'm debating on the Zapco vs the JL 300/4, not sure if i want the rear channels existing)
that 2AWG will be lots...but i'll throw this in also:
1) re-do your ground connection from the batt. to the chassis with 2AWG or 2x4AWG connections...it'll help BIG time...JL amps are VERY picky about power...you'll have a hum if it's not perfect...
