In order to install my progress spring I had to empty my trunk last night. Got to drive the car this morning to bring it to my uncle's. I loved the ride so much without the extra weight. So now it gets me thinking. What should I use to rebuild my trunk setup and keep it as light as possible. I've got 2 amps and 1 sub to put in there.

I'm not looking for any design idea. I am looking for strong and lightweight material. If possible, anything but fiberglass or carbonfiber.

 

Plywood is lighter than MDF, and stronger too. Personally I believe it makes better sounding boxes. The weight savings won't be much, but you said not fg or cf.

 

I've heard of something that kinda like mdf, but a lot stronger and way lighter. It's some sort of stuff mainly used in Aeoronotics. I can't remeber the name though. Anybody has a clue?

I said no fg, cause it's kinda hard to work with. Worst come to worst I'll use it, but would rather not...

 

I believe its called mdx.
