How much better?

Once again, I'm starting to shop around for my new trunk setup.

I currently have a Jensen XS1212 (500 watts peak), and will probably upgrade to a Kicker Solo-Baric L5 8"

Will I notice a huge difference in quality?

My XS1212 is already mounted in the best box possible(to the manufacturer's specs), do you think this Kicker(again in the best box possible) will be louder. The db specs were are higher on the Jensen sub, but I think kicker is way better quality, which is why I'm asking.

BTW, this is the forecasted setup, but with only 1 sub...

Yeah but I'm more into quality right now. Ported will shell out more SPL, but if I go sealed and have the cone inside the cabin, I should be getting back those lost db.

No, tune the port to a nice flat frequency response and it will sound just as good...

The only time you want the subs facing into the cabin is when you have the trunk TOTALLY sealed off from the front (that includes the top deck, seats, etc...)

So you lose your 60/40 split and you have to do a lot of work on the rear deck.

Rear firing, ported.

Rear firing sealed will work too...(and round speakers sound better than square or oval speakers) (this is same for 6x9's and square subs! )

I'm not sure I understand you correctly here. My sub wouldn't be freeair. There would still be abox behind the seat. As for the port, I don't think I have the correct knowledge to tune such a thing.

I heard before about the square sub's SQ, but I figured it would sound much better than my Jensen. Jensen subs are still pretty low on the quality chart I think. Are you suggesting I should keep my Jensen instead of going Kicker 8"?

The main reason for my redesing is weight issue. My current setup weights between 70 and 100 pounds. I would like to make this as light as possible without doing fiberglass. Any suggestions?

Would I be better with this
