You have emailed me, emailed Split, and PMed me to get software. At one time SS and RRM discussed the ramifications of letting software out. I considered it and to their knowledge had I had not decided. I ask them for some CDs, at that point they urged me to reconsider releasing it. I took their advice and did not release it. They will defer to me regardless that is why it is the way it is. It is our decision no matter how much pressure is applied. I did not avoid you. I have answered you at least 3 different times so no need to post your question again in a public forum!

NOT AVOIDED NICELY!

If people had the software we could share improved map just like everybody else out there using a Split box.

Don't be fooled by RRM... Google around and see how companies make the software available to their costumers and see how people are sharing info on the maps they use.

I don't think it matters if you have the software or not. SplitSecond is supposed to learn how to work for the best performance no matter what mods you have. It is also RRM's right to give you the software or not. Instead of trying to demend it from them try working things out with them. Maybe they could reflash your PB and make it work better if you would like to.

There is a good example:
RPW gave the specification for their camshafts. Some people tried to reproduce it and ended up with massive problems and blamed RPW.

^^ Not to get too off topic - but how many people here really know how to tune? How many people have all the necessary equipment to properly tune? WB02, datalogger, EGT, OBD2 scan tool and the time and knowledge to go out and street tune the car? Then dyno tune the open thottle? In reality, very few of us could pull this off succesfully without blowing up our engine or spending way more money than the piggy would justify. If you want to custom make maps and tune, then get a SAFC2 or emanage(you must BUY the software and cable connector) or even the AEM EMS and you are more than welcome to make your own maps and share them. The RRM piggyback is for those who don't know how/or care to tune the piggyback themselves but want a performance upgrade. RRM has provided an excellent product that does just that. If you don't like it, there are lots of other options out there.

On topic - car is still running great. Last weekend, I switched my AEM CAI with a Injen SRI for winter and reset the computer. 30 on the reset, car still running strong. Hopefully I can get the piggy leanred quick so I can enjoy the power again

RRM sure did provide a lazy solution. Plug & Play. But don't you think the piggyback can do even more? Do you really think they are pulling the most out it? They provide a standard map that works well on all the car. Now take that map and fine tune it to your need and you'll enjoy it even more. RRM went as far as they could with the piggy because they had to consider 1000s of possibilities because they had to tune 1 map for multiple cars. 1 map for multiple cars won't be the same as 1 map for 1 car.

back on topic, thats good that things are still running strong, is it a definite feel of power with the new setup or have you not "tested" it yet

This is OT but RRM sells a Split Second Piggy back computer. RRM does not make the PB they just tune it and sell it to us. As I have understood it Split Second had authorized ITS dealers to release the software to those who buy the product from the dealer. RRM chooses not to and that's their power I guess.

I don't really care either way but you guys are trying to bully someone that has a legitimate interest in tuning his car.

As for your question about how many of us have the know how to custom tune. They make laptops and dyno's for a reason. All you need to do is take it to a reputable shop to have them tune it for you which is what I am going to do. I don't have the know how and thus defer to someone else who "knows" how to tune. The software if made available would allow people to do this if they chose to.

Im not trying to bully anyone, just trying to help explain RRMs position as I understand it, thats all. If they decide to release the software, thats great - if not, thats their choice. No one made us buy the piggy from them and no one is making us keep it either. Thats all I'm saying.

On topic again:

I ran it over 200 miles before the reset and loved the definate power increase. I'm just relearning it now with the intake and will soon eb re-enjoying it. I also plan to dyno it here pretty soon - maybe even this weekend or next. I'll be sure to post up the results. Stay tuned

There's no need to argue anymore about software... not going to happen.

If you want something you can tune yourself then go and get an emanage/afc/aem/microtech/etc... all of them allow you to get the software to self tune. All of those companies WONT help you in any way in your adventure in tuning. They'll tell you to go to a professional.

End of discussion... RRM has made the statement... back to topic for me as well.

Wth... what's the difference between tuning an AFC and tuning a SplitSecond box or even an Emanage? Don't mislead people into thinking the Split box can't be tuned.
