So is there anyway around the bad idle and CEL without tuning yourself. Will Road Race send me the map with the good idle i really don't care about not recieveing the full power gains i rather have a good idle. Plus i just got my cel to turn off with the Header FIX from Road Race i really don't ever want to see that stupid little light again. Plus i have a code reader to clear CEL's how often do you think the light would come on from the piggyback.

Only some people get the CEL w/ the piggyback, I got it about 10 miles after install and had it on for about a couple hundred miles and it went off and then came back on about 20 miles later. As far as the rough idle, you have to talk to rrm about that but they should be able to tune it for the smoother idle but you will get power loss, it will still be rough at times but not as bad as before. (Thats what happened w/ me).

Will i still get more power from the better idle tuned piggy. As for mods at the time being i'm running a Auto Lancer ES with Custom Intake, Header&Downpipe, Custom Axel Back Exhuast, Fuel Rail, Crank Pulley, Road Race Wires, Denso Iridium SP's, i'm not down for the rough idle but i think i have enough mods at the time being to have a quick lancer with the better idle tuned piggy.

Yes, you will still get more power from the better idle tuned piggy than you have now but i experienced the power before and after the tune and to me and some other people who had it done on this site could feel a major power loss from the original piggy. It is still a great mod and very effective even w/ it tuned for less rough of an idle.

Yeah the piggyback has always had my eye but they idle and cel just was a turn off but if road race is willing to tune it for the better idle and if i don't get the cel it would be golden. See i'm not trying to go power crazy just want to be able to beat other lancers. My city is filled with wanna be ricers with lancers that just have body kits and they all think there the ****. But they all know that my Lancer is Modded and they won't race me at the local hot spot. With the piggy none of those lancer will have a chance anyways.

the piggy is already tuned with the better idle. they did a thing a while back testing differences between rough and smooth idle tunes, and people said they got more power from the rough idle but it was uncomfortable to have it kicking all the time; and less power (but still a gain) from the smooth idle one. I think they said you could choose which tune you want when you buy it but i'd contact rock or rrm to confirm that.

Idle thing is resolved. TEJ had earlier version with rougher idle. Regardless only model to experinece issues with idle are 02-03 automatics. Everyone is completely past the idle issue. 04-06 guys have no issues at all, ever!

Well rock i'm one of those 02 - 03 automatic guys and i was wondering when i order my piggyback if i could get the map that has the better idle with it. I'm willing to pay extra for the idle tuned piggy. Plus how many people are running into cel problems if not everyone.

Yeah, maybe we could get a map posted from rrm? and that way if we already have the software, we can upload it.

The rougher/smoother idle has nothing to do with the MAP. Its all dependent on the output settings of the software. All you do is change two or three values for the output (software is needed of course) and you change the idling of the car.

piggyback review

I just hooked up the piggyback before. If you are scared because you read the peoples warning, don't be. I never did anythign like that and it is so easy. Just pay attention and don't cut the first 4 wires, just peel off the insulation alittle and soder the new wire on it. The job takes about 25 minutes to do and 10 minutes of waiting. Your car will run rough at the begining and then it will sound better later. It never idles perfect, but it isn't that bad. The performance is worth it. Buy it and you will be happy with your perfomance gains.

The idle fix is located on the other thread about software update. Actually the update will improve perfromance and idle too!
