It's called aerodynamic drag and not enough engine power to overcome it. The lancer isn't speed-governed, it's rpm governed. If you can max out your rpm guage, you can go faster. There is no speed limiter, it's just the amount of power to overcome the drag we have.

thanks. i'm working on geting it turbo charged that should help speed it up a lot but like I said it's a hole new world of cars to me so someone told me i need to repalce the pistons to hold the pressure but that dosent make sence to me sounds like b.s. do you know if theres any truth to that statement? granted i've always worked with v-8's but the pressure frome a turbo can't be that powerfull

go there, they sell pistons and rods and also good turbo's

and i think getting new pistons depends on how much psi you use. Any1 with turbo is better of helping you out, but there is the link for where you want to buy turbo stuff.

There's plenty of people boosting with RRM kits over 200hp, and you don't really need the pisonts/rods unless you plan on pushing it a little much further than what the turbo kit comes with stock. I'm not exactly sure what the different stage kits the RRM kits come with now, but my non-ic t-25 kit runs around 5 to 6 psi according to my boost gauge. Its plenty quick for a little econo-box car. Speedo easily maxes out past what it can read even with the smallest kit they make, which I have. To give you an idea of the performance you gain, I can keep up with my friends stock 03 stang gt convertible (5-speed). Not beat it.. just keep up with it on the rear bumper within a car length or less.

Very basic response - at 9 or 10 psi, your stock pistons will melt. At 14 or 15 psi, your stock rods will break.

If you plan on encountering any of those numbers, you know what to do.

Maybe it's the exchange rate.

The turbo doesn't matter. It's what you set the wastegate at.

If it has an internal wastegate (like the TD04 in my basement), you just need to locate a 5 psi spring. If you're running an external wastegate, then you just set that to 5 psi.

The turbo is just the tool. It doesn't determine PSI.

Yeah, it seems like a lot more work.

On the bright side, you could always supercharge the Lancer too. That's an option...

Turbo’s are powered of the exhaust of the car form the header a super charger is ran from a pulley you add to your belt system turbo’s are more powerful but the super chargers a lot easier to install and up keep the supercharger has been around longer and is usually found in mussel cars if a cheve has ss on it it’s super charged.
