finding the right connector...
I want to start doing some tuning and have the ability to read/record the data from my car... the guy that tuned my car used my safc and also had a cable hooked up to what i believe was the OBDII connector which fed into his palm pilot and gave him more data... what kind of cable is this and can i get one to work on my laptop?
Basic OBDII-computer cord. They're available - check this thread for details (sorry, I'm lazy).

come on man, 90 bucks is a steal when all the other tuning devices are over $300. I was lucky enough to snag one for $80 from an evo owner (thank you blacksheep). Its the cheapest you'll get with the same possibilities.

the ecuflash is a program you download to a computer (laptop). You plug the cord from the car to the laptop, download your ecu files onto the laptop, then edit them (more than just the fuel stuff). then you upload them back into your car. That would be the process of tuning the car. But take it to a pro tuner if you don't know how. Someone correct this if any is wrong. Im not a pro.

as far as a local tuner, have any of the ohio guys been to Auto RT out in Cleveland Heights? there was a guy there that tuned my lancer with my safc and he had another program that gave him different readouts on his palm pilot. if you guys have been to the shop or heard anything about it let me know... he took a little longer than I wanted, but he seemed pretty knowledgeable and the car runs a lot better than when i first got it...
If you want to keep your SAFC, and only want an OBD-II reader there are many options available out there. Such as Auterra, Dyno-Scan and stuff like that. The OBD-II cable alone won't be enough. You need an interface(inline chip between OBD-II cable and laptop), and a software able to read what the interface is getting from the ecu.

It'd be so nice to have a local professional handle it.
