160 is real. Also more importantly would be that it can be 20 extra horses from 3000-redline. That is what you are looking for. Think about it.

While the intake and exhaust are different (generally superior) to the RT setups in the Calibers, it's not unheard of to get over 20WHP and 15 - 18TQ out of that setup (intake, pulley, exhaust, and ECU), pretty good for a 2.0 and bolt ons on standard gas without changing emissions. This engine when tuned right on the ECU without any mods can supposedly get better than 8whp more out of it according to the a tech I talked to at my dealer and supposedly he was told un-officially that the engine is more than a little under rated and 'de-tuned' for 07/08 and that future years will see gains without part changes or major changes in anything.

Considering that Mitsu has to increase production capacity and all the glowing reviews, and with rumors that Mitsu is looking to make as many as 3 non-evo performance oriented models available for 09 and 10 with an ala-carte of options for suspension, braking, intake, exhaust, etc... things are looking bright. We in 08 are somewhat of a ginuea pig year in essence, Mitsu wants to get the Lancer back to competing with all the performance oriented offerings out there in a big way... and they chose this engine and worked the design to give years of possibilities and options. Personally, I almost wish I had held off if even a 1/4 of the 'rumors' are true about future options (leather with heat, heated mirrors, dual exhaust, rim options, remote start, rear entertainment, factory tint options, HID, homelink, CVT2 upgrade with performance mode and heavier build, turbo, AWD, 19 and 20" rim offers, performance braking and suspension package, dual turbo 2.0 ralliart, 2.4 MIVEC2 or turbo GTS options, etc).

^That sounds almost tooo good to be true... If those kind of options do start to come out, I hope it will be feasable to put this stuff on the 08's.

It's OK - you can always trade it in for a newer model in a year or two (I might)

For somethings, yes. Pre-wire already exists I am told for seat heaters, rear camera, and some other things and as needed optioned in the ECU somewhere.

Me, I want homelink, heated mirrors, seat heaters and leather and I would be happy. As the main driving car I don't care so much that it is a bit of a pooch, though I am tempted to change the intake and exhaust as simple bolt ons. If/When I buy a second car (just wifey and me) I would want it to have some guts and what not, be easy to work on and lots of parts available... but I am thinking more muscle car or maybe another GP (GenII 3800SC coupe!).

I figured those 3 blank switches to the left of the steering wheel were for heated seats and something else.

..dunno abotu you guys but ... the cnd models have the heated seats and heated mirrors .. atleast far as I remeber from the build sheet in the window

but we don't get the nav system option

I was thinking about having the bits that come out added later .. but it might be better just to trade it in.. unfortunately I can't wait (not only impatient, but I'm not putting money into the 'beater' so it can survive another winter or more)... so I'm picking mine up in Sept.

the switches for heated seats are in the middle... behind the hand brake in front of the storage compartment that flips open... one for driver one for passenger... (CDN model)
