The SAFC is a good box, its been used for years from Hondas to WRXs, I have seem them used on both. It's a piggy back fuel management box, thats it. It will help you mix your fuel and air better for your mods.

I am waiting on some aggressive MIVEC cams!

So is anyone going to confirm if this is compatible for the 2008 Lancer, I am explorering options for advancing two of my projects. Specificly with the new spark plugs I am using.

If anyone has insight into this. If not I am going to have to go out and do it myself.

i think i need he pinout for the stock ECU for the 08 lancer? im not really sure but think thats what i was told ... the guy i take my car too said he couldnt find a pinout for my car and he would need that to install it quickly and correctly, he said he could go threw my firewall n just start ripping apart wires but that would be messy and take a lot of time ... if u have a pinout for the stock ECU i wouldlove that and then i can let all u know how effective this SAFC really is?? THANKS!!!!!!!

^^ the pin out will tell you what wire goes where on the wiring harness. There are a few pages in their so I need to know which wire he is looking for.

ok, need some clarification to find a couple

IG = ??
Ground = can be anywhere so the big black one under your steering column will work
Pressure signal = MAP signal?

if this is really what he needs and he couldnt find it dont let him touch your car. Let me explain.

Those will be INPUTS into the ECU, so he should be able to visually trace them. I'll try and go 1 by 1.

So the TPS (throttle position sensor) will be some wires coming off a sensor at the throttle body (however because we have an fly by wire system I am not sure how that works, we may not have a tps)

Ground? the whole chassis of the car is used as the ground

RPM = can be a signal coming from a certain sensor. i.e crank, cam, etc. or a real RPM output from the ECU.

Pressure = Manifold Absolute Pressure, will be a sensor located somewhere in the head or near the intake manifold, and again will just trace the wire again.

hope that helps

act yes it does ... so your saying that i can fallow these wires into the sock ECU? if so thanks i will do that but i am new to this ive taken several electronics and engenerring class's so im just working off what i know as of now ... as far as he "IG Power" goes im not sure as to what hey mean but im looking into tha ... but there are a few thing's that i am not sure of ... there are four different types of ECU's that the SAFC can work with ... one is a vehicle with VTEC, vehicle with Karman sensor, vehicle wih RB26DETT, and vehicle with Hot Wire, Flap, and pressure sensor ... i do not know what the 08 lancer has is there any way you would be able to find out using that service manual??? I also need to know if there is a ECU "layout" available in that manual so i know where the sock ECU is located??? ..... thanks so much again .... i should have this up and running shortly if all goes well ... i will keep this thread updated/maybe start my own with pictures if it works... also is there any way to find a "ECU Terminal Aggangement Table" for the 08 Lancer ... this is really all that i need?

i do believe that the IG power is another ground? IG Stands for Insulated Grounding??? but i do believe that if i find the 5 wires needed and then splice them correctly i can connect this ECU ... but a if anyone knows of a "ECU Terminal Arrangement Table" for the 08 lancer please send me a copy of it ... thanks again ... nothing but kind words and help form everyone here!!! ... im just trying to do my part and help too!!!

in the end you may still be lacking torque but its possible to get 250 out of it.. 300 is a little high but oyur gonna need some serious internals..

pretty much like an s2k.. 2.0L 220hp only 159tq

I'm pretty sure IG = Ignition current. That would be the main power to the SAFC unit. You can pull this from the stero or cigarette lighter harness. Just check the signals with a test light.

I don't see why it wouldn't work on the '08. It simply modifies the MAF signal to trick the stock ECU in to dumping more or less fuel.

ah ok yeah IG would make sense for ignition, so that the unit doesnt operate constantly.

ECU Terminal Aggangement Table, I dont really know what this would be, like you need the pin out? That is sort of the problem, the circuit diagrams only follow the individual wires and tell you where each one goes. There is no one page.

Sorry I didnt mean to insult you, I thought you were having a professional or shop install it for you. Then I thought if they couldn't work that out then I wouldn't let them touch my car. For a DIY, this is tough but I am impressed you want to try it.

As for what type of ECU we have, I know we have a CANBUS MIVEC ECU, so the part I am most worried about is CANBUS (which is a language which the car communicates with other control units in the system) may be a limiting factor in the system.

Not sure what I can help you with. Let me know with a pretty direct question (I am an engineer so I have been programed to only follow specific instructions haha )
