Calling for logs ...
My fuel recommendation thread has sparked the question, "Is the Lancer you logged an isolated case?" Well, I'm sure we'd all like to know. If I'm wrong, you all can point and laugh and go on running 87 in your cars. If I'm right, the community will benefit from it and Lancer drivers will have proof that high octane fuel is better for the car.
So, I need some help getting this info. I'm an Evo guy and don't know many Lancer drivers in the area, so I'm hoping that some of you can provide logs of any Lancer running 87 octane fuel on the stock maps. The thread was about the pre '08 Lancer, but if you have an '08 and the ability to log it I'd love to see those too.
If you would like to provide any logs, just zip them up and post them here, preferably along with the year and trim of the car, as well as a mod list. The logs should include TPS, RPM, octane flag and of course knock count. Anything else is just gravy.
I'm at work currently, but I'll post up the logs I took from the '02 ES in question when I get home. Thanks for the help and I hope this will prove beneficial to the community.

No one will point and laugh, you certainly helped that particular lancer owner and you did raise the question of whether 87 octane is indeed the best. Not sure how much luck you'll have as most of the big tuners (like Alchemist) don't post here that often anymore.
I know no one will point and laugh ... that was just a little light humor. I just love experiments and learning things, so I'm hoping I get a lot of responses to this.
Our Lancer knock a lot with 87 octane... It seen taht Mitsubishi put too much timming advance. (I don't have my log when I was with the stock flash.)
Check in the post 461 of the big thead about Ecuflash, you will find some Evoscan Log of Newfoundlancer

Z_lancer _man do a lot with Ecuflash and Evoscan. The Base Lancer seen too knock a lot with the stock tune and burn a lot of fuel since it run on low octane fuel a lot of time. (Z_lancer_man, Newfoundlancer, Lancerrally45 and me saw this on Evoscan log and maybe other Evoscan user too.)

I'm not sure ... but the Lancer has a very ... ummm ... "optimistic" timing map. I've also noticed that there is no low octane fuel map. I guess that makes sense if 87 is recommended ...
The lancer should have two maps, a high octane and a low octane. Supposedly the high octane map is the normal one (so tuned for 87) while the low octane map is the "oh my god I'm dying" map.
I actually just purchased evoscan last night and did a test run, using 87 from shell, and got a knock sum count of 4.... this is also n 32 degree weather with only intake and exhaust. just thought I would share.
lolll "optimistic" timming map... It's probably one reasons for why the base Lancer don't respond well to the N/A mod. (Compare to Civic or Focus.) They run more often on the Low Octane map (Fuel and Timing).
