Accelaration

Hey guys, lemme sum everything up. I have an 09 Lancer ES SPORT, a couple of weeks ago (2 1/2 months)I got into an accident, i spun out of control and landed in bunch of rocks...for 36 hours within the incident, u know how with lancers it doesnt let you red line the most u can reach is 6000RPM's, well for those hours after the accident I could redline the car which had me seriously worried, then i would feel a bunch of turbulance when reaching high speed. A couple of days later I got my tires balanced which took care of the turbulance....and It would no longer let me red line it went back to the normal max of 6000RPM's.

Now I've had this car for a while now and i know how the car is suppose to accelerate, before I would floor the car so it can reach high rpm's fast now i can floor it and RPM's still go up gradually they never get stuck they go up like you would imagine a normal car would...now it doesnt accelerate how it use to...i took it to various dealers several times and all they had found wrong with it was my alignment which they fixed uner the 12,000Mile warranty, as for all my other complaints they said everything else is normal.

Acceleration is fine because technically speaking it is, you only notice the difference if you floor the pedal, i have a CVT so....anyways im about to spend money in getting an exhaust HID's and a cold air intake but first im trying to find out if i should be worried about my car....Ive gone to literally 7 dealers in the past month and a half and each one says there's nothing wrong with the car...back when i had just had the accident my family mechanic said the front strut was damaged....i took it to the dealer and listed that complaint everytime but everytime they say its worked fine. So I need you help here anythign I can do or that I can tell my own mechanic to do/check to my car to see if anything is holding it back....helps appreciated

I don't have a CVT but from what I've gathered around here a CVT holds the RPM at 6000 when you floor it and it's in D (drive). If you want to redline it (which is at 6500 rpm) you will have to use the paddle shifters or the "+/-" whatever the car has.

The problem is not that I want to red line. It the problem is it doesn't accelerate like it used to as though timing was all messed up however multiple dealers say its fine because when they test drive it they gradually accelerate and everything seems fine however if they were to floor it which. Is what I used to do the car doesn't accelerate as it once would

The CVT actually hauls out to 6300-6500ish in D and fuel cuts you at 5900 in the sport (shifting) mode. Kinda dumb imo but whatever, I don't wind it out that long very often.

As for your car not seeming like it accelerates like it used to - My diagnosis would be that it's just a placebo and you're just worried something is screwed up in your car from the accident even though everything is probably fine.

Also - once you've been driving a car for a while, you get used to how it accelerates and it begins to feel "slower" or dulled down. Even though it's still the same, the mind plays games with you .

Drive a slower car for a few days then hop back in your lancer, It'll feel like a new car again.

If that doesn't help, yitzac's advice always does! Or ya know... a 100 shot of nitrous
