Question Quick Exhaust Piping Question

Before anyone says that i should use the search function, i have and have looked for a while now and couldnt find the exact answer i needed.

My question, does anyone know the stock exhaust piping size for 08 Lancer GTS? Im down to either the magnaflow catback or the greddy se and im not sure if getting the catback will have any extra benefit over the greddy se. I would like a nice sound but nothing major.(I already have the RRM SRI and am sick of that) Im looking more for perfomance gains.

Just looking for a quick answer so if you anyone can help me out that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

You drive an N/A lancer, for performance gains, the exhaust wont really matter.

Yea, I guess you're right. Does that mean there is any point at even looking at getting the catback? I mean the stock and magnaflow are the same size but will i lose any back pressure?

It really does matter. Ive built up my 2 NA to give Golf GTI's a tough time. Its just about knowing what to do and not cheaping out on parts. Also custom work is a must.

This.
Buy for sound, or don't buy at all.

I measured my stock exhaust when I swapped it for my magnaflow catback. The magnaflow piping was slightly larger, I cannot remember what the stock exhaust measured at. I'm thinking it was 2 1/8" at the midpipe.

The stock lancer N/A piping is adequate. Just get the axle back exhaust, no need to go catback. You need to preserve the back pressure to avoid losing low end torque for take off. If you drive city all the time or drive CVT transmission, it will keep your power band below 3000rpm most of the time. The lancer engine is a more torque oriented engine compared to engines like the CIVIC SI which is more of HP engine.

Any mods you do to add HP will affect everyday drivability. You need more torque oriented mods.

Also for your application did you know that the piping size is the same for 2.0L and the 2.4L? If it's big enough for the 2.4L with slightly larger displacement, I would think the piping size would be plenty for your 2.0L application.
