NA Stages

What would be the most cost effective and most power netting modifications you could do to our lancers from the NA standpoint. i want to hear what people think the stages for the best NA car. no turbo, nitro, or forced induction of anykind, purely naturally aspirated. i am doing this to a)get some ideas b)debate what mods actually work and don't work in our cars and c)find out what parts people prefer and why

thanks
alex

here is an example incase you don't follow the stage thing
stage one
intake, cat-back, header
stage two
intake mainifold, downpipe, performance cat, cams, valves
stage three
pistons, compression ratio, fuel management, timing system, and other general ecu upgrades

those are all the ideas i have for now off the top of my head but i am mainly looking for new compression ratio's and more advanced stuff like stages 2 & 3

Stage 2 would be probably the most effective per money spent.

Although I think that drivetrain should be a major factor in how well things work.

Fly wheel would be good and pulleys. New raidiator would be sweet.

About fly wheels. No offense, cruisin, but that's probably about as effective as a port and polish on this car. The flywheel mod would basically just be a better mod with more power running through it, though, I doubt that a NA setup will ever provide enough power to make the fly wheel worth it's mettle (not metal). The radiator idea, now, might be a decent idea as far as dependability goes, but, performance... I don't know.

Jeff, multi-tbs are available, but, remember, things like that require multiple stand-alone management systems. That'd be talking a pretty penny, and the benefit that you'd see for this engine is negotiable, at best.

somthing simple plugs and wires and not to mention a throttle body depending on where you wanna class that.

I'd put plugs/wires in Stage 1, and TB modification into... stage 2. It's not quite as heavy duty as Stage 3's mods, but, it's not exactly a basic mod.

And, actually, as I re-read, that's where he DID class it.. Intake Manifold being the full term for the throttle body.

The intake manifold is the exact opposite of the exhaust manifold (header). It's just past the TB in the intake system.

Be that as it may, I was basically saying that he's talking about that as a whole, since it is one part.

N/A Stages??

1. Cry.
2. Cry harder.

Honestly, why would you want to spend a bunch of money on building up a sub 2-liter engine? For all that money, forced-induction is SO much more bang-for-the-buck!

hardcore609 listed out a bunch of stuff you could do, in three stages. I say the stages should go like this:

1. Decide if you think you'll ever go turbo.
2. If so, buy a cat-back and don't waste money on any other intake or exhaust piping.
3. Buy a turbo.

Unless you want to sell most of your exhaust and your intake, don't bother buying it if you know you're going to slap a turbo on there. Although, a cheap open-air filter might be worthwhile, just not an expensive cold-air-intake. With a simple K&N-style filter, you can reuse it for the turbo setup. A bored-out throttle body would probably be happier that way too.

It just makes so much sense to turbocharge these cars, I can't understand why anyone would want to build this tiny engine for N/A "power".
