To be honest, that seems like that or the 4G69 is best engine you can get that will drop right in. Any stronger engines would probably require far too much money/work to install.

I assume you plan on getting a matching ECU? I'd assume it's needed.

Hey. No you do not want to try the OZ rally engine for only 30 more horsepower. If you have the money for a swap, get a Ralliart engine.. it's a version of the lancer with the same chassis and build design as ours and everything should bolt right up although you will need a new ecu and possibly the transmission. The model for that engine is a 4g69

You could do the lancer swap but I just think the ralliart project would be more fun IMHO

What's wrong with the OZ Rally engine? I think RRM proves it can be made to have power. Drop in a turbo kit or build it up N/A and it'll be tons of fun.

Personally, I'm wondering how the computer would take a 4G94 in the bay, let alone a 4G69. He'd definitely need an ECU swap for the MIVEC.

4G93 1.8L SOHC - 116hp, not sure about tq
4G94, 2L SOHC - 120hp, 130tq
4G69 2.4L SOHC - 162hp, 162tq

AC & Gearbox - don't know.

The best that's available, I vote. If you can get a 4G93, get it and make it zippier! There's a decent aftermarket for it.

The 4G69 would be a complicated swap and the engine would be hard to come by, but if he could there is starting to be an aftermarket for that too. If he has the money to get a turbo for a 4G94 then by all means go that route; there's more competition and more products, but if the only thing he's getting to be zippier is an engine, get the 4g69 IF YOU CAN.

Curious, would the 4g63 fit in the bay, or is it just too big? (well as big as a 2.0 liter can get )I've seen a couple of spare 4g63 engines for sale.

I think the 4G63 would fit. But it would be a mounting/wiring/tranny nightmare.

no no no the 4g94 has 130 FT/LB. of torque, although that may also mean NM cause the 4g94 has 120 hp. it is not the strongest motor for being a big 2.0l, although it can be made one, as im doing. just get whatever you can that will fit cause anything's better than a 1.3l.

130 lb ft. of torque is about 176 Nm .....

4G63s would fit (for Evo IV and later), not too bad of a wiring nightmare, but issues with gearbox and tranny. Since yo uhave the 4G1x family, you can look into the 4G15 DOHC engine. Not a real powerhouse (like 110 hp, 115 TQ or so) but yo ucan use your stock gearbox without problems.... there are also more powerful swaps but depends on you knowledge and ability. Just read and search around and you will find them all.... from the 4G69 to the 6Axx series of motors, to the 4G63 to hybrid setups etc etc etc.
