Just purchased the Greddy e-Manage, now what....

Okay, well to start off, I just received today in the mail, the Greddy e-Manage and support tool, pc cable etc. Just the main, basic harnesses as well. Now, I've done a lot of reading about the e-Manage both on these forums, the yahoo group and at mohdparts.com. At the time, I felt that this would help me. But, I fear I've maybe come to the stark reality that its not worth the trouble, especially since I've decided to stay NA. Most would agree that I just don't have the mods to really support this piggyback, yet others would disagree. In terms of engine mods, I have the following:

Ported IM
RRM Header
AEM CAI
Bored Fuel Rail
Full Custom Catback exhaust

Now, again, many would say that the stock ECU will compensate for these mods fine. What I am really asking is this: Is hooking up the emanage worth it for my setup(staying NA)? I know that eboy has been having a hell of a fight with his and he's also NA. I will probably get the RPW cam and perhaps the cam gears as well. I also have a 60 mm TB I'll eventually install as well as some phenolic gaskets. I appreciate all comments - both those supporting the piggyback and those who think I made a mistake getting it ( I may be one of those people). One last question, will I need to get an AFR gauge to properly tune the e-Manage or will the support tool with no gauges be fine. I'm also aware of the WB02. Thanks again and sorry for the long post

Only E-boy noticed ECU trying to relearn from new tune. I think it all has to do something with how you tune it. Maybe a short term fuel trims were off too much?

Get a wbo2 gauge and start tunning. Since you already have it just do it and then after a while you will see if ECU is fighting back or not.

As I understand it, and as I've read in other posts about the eManage and SAFCII, you can get results with these tools similar to what you'd see with the RRM piggyback, as they basically serve the same function.

I think someone threw up a number similar to a 6whp gain using one of these two devices, and you'll also see more power throughout the entire powerband.

I'm seriously thinking about picking up one of these and a WBO2, too, so keep us posted.

Thanks for the responses. Yeah, I've also thought that since I already have it, might as well give it a try. So do I need to get a WB02 to tune this, or can I use it now just with the stock sensors and no gauges?

In order to properly tune it you will need to know the Air/fuel ratio given by the wideband.

So no...you will not be able to tune without it.

^^ I was afraid of that - So does anyone know where I can get a good deal on a WBO2? I'm new to this whole actual "tuning" thing, not just bolt on and go.

Just got this "new" mag in the mail... and this wideband stuck-out at me for some reason. Check this link out for pricing and description... ( http://www.tunerschoice.com/xq/aspx/...qx/Product.htm ).

Thanks for the link. I checked it out and seems like a great setup. I'm thinking it might be too much. I basically just need the sensor and the display. However, maybe I don't exactly know what I need. I know I need a means to read the AFRs, hence the display and then of course the sensor to read them. But thats all I would need right?

Now I'm pretty sure (99.9999999%) that I have all the connections correct and that they're good connections. I've even gone so far as to take connections I knew were good and swap them, just to see what happens. What happens is the car won't idle and it just dies. I put the wires back and bingo- car runs again. I'm 100% sure that I've followed the instructions in the eM FAQ for changing the mapping. I'm 100% sure that I had my AFR at 12.4 across the RPM band last night and by the time I got to my "testing ground" less than 3 miles from my house the AFR had gone back to doing its regular lean to rich thing.

I would love it if someone could tell me what I'm doing wrong, or even offer suggestions. I'd be ecstatic if Z came back and said "oh yeah, a guy I was talking to said that I needed to try this, and it works like magic. The eM holds its tune and the ECU is happy, too. you should try it" and I would. Because I'm out of ideas at this point.

I didn't check out the link for that WBO2 but my Zeitronix was only $309. 2-day shipped, zeitronix and a second O2 bung to check the AFR in the downpipe.

Good luck and really, if you find out anything new, please post it up. I'm still fiddling, but it's taking a toll on my desire to even drive the car, much less continue to try to mod it...

^Let me know if you are selling your SAFC

What do you mean by when LTFT changes? What happens then?
