I don't argue that the engine wouldn't fit in there, it's more of the fact of mating the engine and trany and mounting the engine. It would not be anything close to a simple civic or prelude swap. If you are willing to make your grand am your daily driver and have alot of faith in your friend; I say, save up and see what you can do. I wouldn't do it personaly, but by no means does that mean you should not try if you feel that strongly about putting a H22 in your lancer. It would sure be an interesting thing to see it work properly.

I'm not saying that the engine would fit for sure, can't say i've ever looked into it. But if you buddy can check that out for you, I would beleive what he says. A tranny swap could help you out there, but that is beyond my realm of knowlege. I don't know how much would have to be custom work and how much could just be swapped out. But by the time you swap engine and tranny into a lancer, I would ask myself... why not just either drop 8-10g's and make a 300whp lancer or get a more powerful car.
I think you could get the parts for your swap pretty cheap but the labor will end up hitting you hard if I'm right about making everything line up right.

From what I know, those boxes are well known for frying out the evos. Also, from a few of the set ups i have seen and ridden in, there is no real need for that. With the dual coil packs, the lance seem to put out very good spark to begin with. From what I have seen, you should be able to make an easy 250whp lancer on stock ignition packs. You will need better plugs and wires (that you have already) but I think the packs are fine for controlling them.
my lancer is almost paid off and i already have custom exhaust k&n intake kamikaze headers magenacore plugs road races piggy back ecu. ive put at least 2500 and really not to happy with results
my friend has a honda hatch with the b16 jdm swap and he spanks my *** and he tells me how he beats 5.0 mustangs and cameros going from 95 hp to almost 200 hp for only 3500 is a good and safe way to upgrade quickly

I know where you are coming from. Thats the reason I sold my lancer for a different platform to work with. untill you turbo a lancer, the results from modding are not that noticeable. There are alot of possibilities out there, be it swaps, upgrades or new car; just keep searching around and see what will make you happy. Remember, you could do your swap and still be unhappy in the power you end up with. That is not a sure thing to make you happy with it for the cost.
I need to sleep some tonight, but feel free to pm me with any more questions or ideas and I would be more than happy to lend some advice or help where I can. I will also try to follow this thread for a bit.
Good Luck

this thread is ridiculous. It simply sounds like you hate your car and are to broke to go buy a Honda that you so endearingly love. And you are hopeing that it would be cheaper to swap a Honda engine into your Lancer. Well I say go for it but I hope you like walking.
Listen to Alchemist he knows his ****.

Put a Aston Martin DB9 engine in it. It bolts right up without any modifications to the body. It's a 450-hp V12... talk about power! There's a lancer down on fort belvoir with a silver evo wing that has one.... Man that thing flies!
You Can Put An Evo Engine Into The Lancer. It Has Been Done Successfully. Just Take A Look. And Can You Please Stop Typing Like This. Thanks.

First off.
Bwahahahahahhahahahahahahhahahahahahhahahahahahhah a'
Secondly.
This is a joke right? Your just kidding around? If you really want a car with a H22 then buy a 89 civic (lightest civic ever made) and drop it in that for under 2K. You will have a fast car.
I will leave EvoM if this is even attempted.
