Just as the topic says, is the timing belt covered every 60,000 miles under warranty? I searched, and found 4 topics that were of no help whatsoever. Any help is appreciated.

Nope. I believe they consider it a consumable item like brake pads, etc. If it snapped at 5k miles they would probably replace it (and any engine damage as well).

Are you definitely sure about this? I even had a former Mitsubishi Tech I asked that wasn't positive.

Its circumstancial so it doesn't matter if he's sure about it or not. It's the service manager or whoever makes the decision that it's up to.

Read up in your warranty manual that you got with car (unless you got it second-hand and don't have one). It will state everything that is covered and what isn't within a certain mileage or time frame. Also if an extended coverage package was purchased, check that paper work as well.

If the Lancer was actually here I'd check on it for yah; but it's not.

The timing belt is "routine maintanence" and I doubt the warranty covers that.

The price to do timing belt and waterpump is 400 - 700 bucks!!! WOW!!!

The first time I got mine done, it cost me 70 bucks labour, and then i was screaming bloody murder and decided to do it myself after that.

They say it is not. Even my aftermarket warrenty says they are not. Those kindsof things are maintenence issues or something. Like tranny fluid changes... :/

My T-belt from the dealership was about 450 bucks. Once in awhile, they pass out 10% discount, and I forgot to bring it.
