Wink Warm Up Cat ISSUE: HELP!?

My inspections for my 02 lancer oz is due this month, and to my luck the engine light came on. I've ran an OBD II test on it and it says its my warm up cat. The one on the stock exhaust manifold. This question goes to those with aftermarket headers..does your engine light come on? because I have three choices before janurary:

Choice 1: Beat the **** out of my warm up cat until the screens come out.

Choice 2: Junk Yard manifold

Choice 3: AFTERMARKET HEADERS

Any suggestions would be great! =)

Um, why would you think that removing your cat will make the CEL go away?

I've already done the recall, and the engine light came on after about a month later. I took it back to the dealer and they ran a OBD II test on my lancer and said that its the warm up cat. Since my warranty is over they told me to get a new warm up cat in other words a new stock exhaust manifold. Which cost about $640...so i was asking if those with aftermarket headers have any engine lights that come on or trouble codes?

yes you will have trouble with an aftermarket header and a CEL...i got a stock mani from a junkyard for $169 w/extra o2 sensor...don't buy a new mani from a dealer when there are so many other options that are cheaper.

About half the people with aftermarket headers have codes. Half are fine.

I gutted my stock manifold (removed the cat), and it didn't throw a code.

get an aftermarket header and the mechanical fix. thats what i have, and no CEL for me.

EDIT: just get the mechanical fix if you are worried about the ligh only. 2 spark plug anti fowlers in the second O2 sensor. it's like a $2 fix

I'll sell you one of my stock exhaust manifolds (yes, with the cat intact ). PM me but be aware that shipping will be priced because the cat weighs so damned much.
