Looking forward to hearing the results ourselves.

We will in the future be providing information onhow to time the camshaft and cam gears in the future so that this does not happen again.

The shop I took it to sucks...they keep refusing to continue with the install everytime they hit something difficult. I've gotta find a new shop to do it. I wish I could do this myself..... Instal on this thing is pricey!!!

what problems do they keep running into? i talked to a guy i know who said he'd do it for me for $350 and he is positive it'll work great.. is it a compatability problem with the cam and the engine? should i trust RPW and buy one myself?

RPW's R&D is fairly extensive. I wouldn't worry about compatability, but that's a lot easier to say for me since I havne't bought one yet.

I do intend to make a cam and cam gear purchase in the future, but I have too much other stuff slated for purchase before then to worry about it now.

Problem first was that the gear had no markings like usual (Honda) gears for degrees so they didnt know how to adjust it. Second time they couldn't figure out how to get the old cam out. For future reference our cam slides out through the side, not out of the top. I was quoted $150 for the install....now I'm thinking about bringing it into Modacar and pay the $350 to have them do it....I know they at least have a good rep.

Are there clearance issues with the fender? SOHC Neons have a similar (****ty) design and you basically have to tilt the engine in order to slide the cam out.

I'd pay the extra $200 without question to have a reputable company do it. If this install isn't done correctly, you're looking at some serious potential damage. Peace of mind is worth $200, even if these guys can figure out how to install it after all.

Locate a repair manual, a good set of tools, tighten up your belt, and dig in. You will be surprised how easy seemingly complex things are to do, once you actually do them once or twice to iron out all the snags. The best part - you might learn a thing or two about how your motor operates, and you will most certainly learn how to remove and install the cam! You can bet that unless the shop you go to specializes in the 4G94 they are going to be looking in the exact same book, and scratching their heads in the same way you would, as is witnessed by your current shop's lack of desire to finish your install. Figuring it out is 90% of the fun!

Dude if the shop you went to doesn't even know how to take a damn cam out get your stuff and run! Take it to a Speed shop that does installs, reg. mechanics are dumbasses. (i'm a mechanic so I can say that) Install of a new cam shouldn't take more than 3 hours... IT'S AN OVERHEAD CAM! Not like those old American cars where you have to the engine out of the car... That's it.

I would let the pros do it.... If ya screw up the cam timing you can bend valves or worse. Pay the extra
