OMG why is this so expensive? My friend got a badass cam for his 2.0 VW, and we put it in np in his garage. We even had to take off the intake manifold (because we all know how THOSE engines are deisgned
) I say try to do it yourself, you learn alot, and have some fun!
Maybe im just wierd, but i love digging into things like this

What do you mean no marks... there are marks on both the crank and cam... also there is a timing rule on the lower timing belt cover. If you had the book for the car you'd see that the dot on the cam gear matches perfectly to a point on the head when at TDC. As will the crank pulley be saying TDC by the gauge of the cover. All you need to do is get the cam in there right with the engine at TDC and install gear so that you are at TDC according to it. From there you'll be able to adjust to your hearts content.
Edit: not to be rude sounding but these dumb a@# fu@#ing mechanics you are going to are really pissing me off. Just do it yourself and if you want me to scan pages for you or assist i will. Just pm me... you've suffered enough man... here's a rope!
