Watch as Andrew calls everyone out:

There's plenty going on. RPW has an assload of parts that nobody's tried and custom work is almost unheard of on these forums aside from leather interiors and cat-backs. Hardly anyone has the ***** or money to do something innovative, new or different so they leave new parts for other people to test. I'm sure he'll keep us updated.

:brushes dirt from getting *****ed my Andrew:

Your words are soo very very true. I just recently ( ie December) got into the whole import tuning thing. From being a Stang lover and mastering Jeep Suspensions, ive been trying to use this site to fill my ever larger growing head with this plethora of knowledge, in a hope to use my mechanicall skill for both my own and everyones benifit. I love seeing the risks that people are taking, and thats what we call "progress". Conversly, those risks are not of most of the poeple here, who look for bolt on performance. Personally, I take pride in my custom work (albiet that none is on my ride as of yet).

But at any rate, Thanks to UV9 for keeping all of us up to date with the goings on with your Cam... more power to ya!

I wasn't speaking of anyone specifically for the record, but jeebus. If you're that interested and can barely afford something then chances are you can't afford to maintain it or fix it if something (God forbid) goes wrong. When you tune you most likely will encounter problems like these and others, so it's best to have MORE than enough money to do what you want and to be a bit adventurous. The more pioneers, the more parts. Dig?

I almost ordered a cam around the same time as U9v, but overwhelming bills and pragmatism cast that idea aside for a bit. I do intend to test out a bunch of parts out there though that have still gone unpurchased (so far as I know). I'm goin' off on a tangent. I'll stop now.

Please dont take what I said as an attack toward you, I was just agreeing with you with added twist of my own. Ive run into the same problems (monetarily) as you, and trust me, Ive have my share fo "tunig" problems when working on both Jeeps and Stangs, so i know where you are coming from with the whole "preparededness". Anyway...gone too far OT....sorry UV9

I've seen some on eBay, but I dunno that I'd trust that to have all the info you need. Maybe someone on the forum has one you can borrow.

I'm really hating this wait, but it's one thing I don't want to screw up... I'm waiting on some specs from RPW/Vision and the cam pages from the manual...apparently there is a Mitsu part tool that is required for the install (according to the manual) I need to see if it is really needed or not.

JUST got a call from a dealer that will do the install for $299 plus $40 in gaskets. I'm just worried about them being able to do the cam gear since it's not marked....Maybe I'll take it down there and see what they say....doing it myself would save the 300+, but this is dealer work.....any thoughts??

If the dealer can do it, then let them do it - they'll probably know the car well enough to do it without all the hassle you've already been going through... and they'll most definitely have whatever Mitsubishi-specific tool you referred to, which while it might not be necessary, probably makes all this a bunch easier (and maybe more obvious to the installer).

Basically all the dealer is going to do is put the motor at TDC on #1 then pull the cam gear/head/cam. I've investigated the cam swap out and don't see changing the cam inside engine bay. Rather i'd just pull the head and do the swap. Ur-9V I got your pm and from the sounds of it your looking for the special cam gear wrench to book talks about. I just made one at work. Free for me of course. If you'd be willing to come down here we could do it in as little as 4-5 hrs. As i said we'll set the engine/cam as above then just loosen the belt tensioner. Then pull the gear...RPW's gear is a stock gear slotted for adjustment. Therefore it should still have stock timing mark on it(you just need to know what to look for) We'll either use that or just put on the gear so the timing mark for TDC/0 is alligned with the heads mark. Let me know if you can come down or if you want to do it yourself i'll pm you my # and you can get dirty.
