first mod?
Don't mod your ryde. Once you start, even with a little insignificant aftermarket part, like an intake, you'll be hooked. I'd say it's easier to quit smokin' crack than quit tuning your Lancer.
Warranty schmarranty. Most, if not all of the bolt on mods are easy enough to install and uninstall yourself. If you're worried about your warranty, you can always strip it back to stock.
But don't listen to me. I'm one of the addicts.

Warranty... bah... what is a warranty anyway? It's a statement from the factory that certifies that they did their job properly. The warranty covers you from errors in their workmanship and parts. If you install a Cold air intake, and there is a recall for the CV joints(ala 94 galant), you're not going to be having any problems. However, it's not to say that your 100% safe modding your car. If you install the CAI, and you manage to injest water or something... that won't be a warantable repair because the damage was a direct result from the aftermarket mod. I've been saying this for a while now, don't fear your warranty.

This thread should answer any of the worries over the warranty.

If you get anything through RMR it won't void your warranty at all! RMRProducts.com is the site where you can find intakes, exhausts, rims, short shifter, body components, brakes, sway bars, etc. I even ordered my RMR intake and exhaust through my
dealer and they installed them before I even picked the car up!
You can probably expect about 7-9 hp out of the intake and about 15-17 from the exhaust, depending on which kind you get!
