hey blaze used seafoam back when i was NA but now that im boosted you think its kinda risky doing it now? IM thinking cuz it causes your car to misfire so much that I might get some pretty nasty detonation and then BOOM!

Has we've seen, there are 3 ways you can use Seafoam.
  1. In the gas tank
  2. In the crank case
  3. In the intake manifold

When mixed with gas, on top of cleaning your injectors it will also increase the octane reading. Just like any other octane "booster" it will raise your level by maybe .01 or something like that. So in the gas tank, it can't be an issue.

When poured into the crankcase, the product doesn't come in contact to anything "fire related". So when poured into the crank case, it can not lead to detonation. The 1 thing you'll have to watch out for is your turbo oil line. If your line, or oil seal is cracked but "plugged" with gunk, Seafoam will get rid of the gunk and it could start leaking.

In the intake manifold, well that's another story. And that's probably what you're most concerned about.
-In general, detonation will occur under boost.
-In general, to safely pour Seafoam into your intake manifold, the car is stationnary and revved up no further than 2k to s*ck up the fluid.

At 2k, your motor should see very little boost if any. So I would not be too worried about detonation caused by the new mix coming in. I guess, at some degree, you could compare feeding Seafoam to feeding Methanol or whatever the Evo guys have been feeding their motors with lately.

If you have a manual boost controller, you could always turn the boost down for the time you do the procedure.

IM thinking cuz it causes your car to misfire so much that...
I don't recall misfiring feeding Seafoam to my ride
If you don't let the vaccum line s*ck up too much too quickly, your engine should not misfire.
There are people out there who let their engine sort of "semi hydrolock" and stall when they do the procedure. My ***** aren't that big.

oh i see... when i did it last i just submerged the entire vacuum tube into the can and let it suck it up while revving it up...MIsfired like crazy.. Now turning down the boost, theres a solution.. haha sometimes its the most obvious solutions that elude us... thanks a bunch blaze!

I thought the same thing reading some of the posts of these members nearly hydrolocking their cars, but didn't have a good way of expressing my concern until now

Anyone do this to a car running Ethanol (E85/95/100)? I wouldnt think putting it the gas tank would be necessary as ethanol is itself an effective solvent in your fuel system. I'm just curious if it's had the same good results in the intake mostly.

I seafoamed a 1998 Intrepid in the parking lot at work, well, I used B-12 Chemtool, it does work in the same fashion as Seafoam. They both work swimmingly! I smoked out an entire parking lot with the massive cloud that came out of the Intrepid, I only have 82k on my ES right now, but hells yeah I totally dig using seafoam, I just added a whole can to my tank. It rocks so hard. Seafoam is the best and I totally swear by it for any car with over 75k on it!

Hell of a way to break my post cherry. But yeah, I LOVE Seafoam. I just couldn't hold it in any longer. So many people talk down about it, but I can't say enough good things.

Geronimo, I almost read that wrong, I thought it said you were going to Seafoam your girlfriend...I'm like, that's either kinky, or illegal....and then I read on, hard to read on an HDTV from across the room.

How many people have done this with their evos? Also, what is the verdict on doing it while running E85? Should I just do it to the vaccuum line and oil pan? half and half?

I usually spray in the seafoam from 2 ports, one on either end of the intake manifold.
Spraying in one location doesn't get the other 2 cylinders from my experience, so I typically alternate injecting into either vacuum ports. It works.

What did you use to spray it? Every time I bought it, it's been a liquid in a container...

I pour it into an empty spray bottle and use a vacuum hose to spray it into.
