I have been using and abusing seafoam for years. The thing with the oil and needing to change it after you use it is not really true. The seafoam does its thing and burns off. I pour a can (the whole thing) in my MX6's new oil everytime I change it and here and there when it smokes. If you are flushing the engine I'd change the oil but if you are just doing some preventative mainteance screw it) Its the only thing that keeps it from smoking (bad valve seals) and probably the only thing that keeps it running, she is pretty much wore out.

again... for those that arent sure where to pour it into the vaccum hose.. this pic's 4 u!

after you poured 1/3 into the gas tank and 1/3 into the oil. put the other 1/3 down that little hose.. while the car is off! u might have to repeat the process on the vaccum hose until the rest of the 1/3 is done!

 

i thought you were supposed to let the hose suck it in while you're revving the engine?

 

if u have someone to help you .. suure! but if not... its the same principle

 

It just seems to me that if you pour it in when the engine is off, it'll flood the manifold and it'll be hard to start back up. Am I wrong?

 

That's why you put it in while the engine is running.

 

Oh, sorry, I must have misread your post... I thought it said that you have to pour it in the vacuum hose when the car is off...

 

... yeah i did it with the car off.. and then turned the car on......i didnt have problems starting up.... but yes it will stutter but u just give it gas and its all good.. the black smoke come out the back... if you pull that hose off while the car is on ur car will shut OFF. and it wont start with it off

 

The only thing that scares me about your method is Hydro-Lock. Don't get me wrong... you're method is probably just as good, but hydro-lock is something I wouldn't want to risk.

On top of that, if you use SeaFoam while the engine is running, SeaFoam will be spreaded properly through the block. If you use it while the engine is off, the liquid will sit on top of the valve until they open and do a single cleaning process as opposed to multipe times if the engine is running.

 

so then that means you're pullin a different hose? cus when u pull that one in the pic the car will shut off

 

When you pull it, you have to squeeze it in order to seal it.
Then take it to the SeaFoam cup and let it suck in the product. The engine will shut off if it sucks in too much air. When you open the hose near the SeaFoam source, what's comming into the engine is now a mixture of Air/Liquid and the engine keeps running(unless there is still too much air comming in). I had to restart the car 3 times when I used that hose.

 

Where are you guys actually getting this stuff, I checked Canadian Tire and they had no idea what I was talking about.
