home grown NOS???

alright this may seem totatlly stupid and totallly odd dumb whatever but its just a thought i had so bare with me.
so im sleeping and im dreaming about cars and mods and i happened to think about NOS... as we all know nos is a cheap way to make ur car faster... but totatlly unsafe... though some manufacturers of nos systems say it is safe if u use it correctly... now i have no knowledge about thats true and if it really is safe or what not BUT im totatlly curios if this would work...

In theory a NOS systems shoots NOS into ur intake manifold with FOGGers or so i've read.. and theres another method they call DIRECT PORT or something and theres wet and dry... thats what i remember... so i had a dream about buying a NOS BREAKER bottle that u fill up with NOS cartridges (look like the ones u put in ur BB gun )that u can buy from stores, the more popular whipping cream bottles that u fill up, that people buy to get high off instead... dont ask me how i know this i just do =*), okay moving on.. fill that bottle with those nos canisters and hook a tube up to my intake valve ( where u would normally connect the vacuum hose ) and to the bottle. you would put a breather on the valve cover since ur running the intakes vacuum tube to the "nos bottle". then just find a way to trigger the bottle to spray it into the intake. sounds totally dumb eh? lol i thikn so but just wanted some input.. in theory it would work right?? cold air and alll BUT the cold air that is coming from the NOS canister is flammable and all im worried about is if the car would blow up!!! thats not a good thing AND real nos systems do shooot flammable nitrous so the question is will this work?? or am i just being an idiot =D...

I'd say don't do it for the reasons already said and one more. I think NOS would be very dangerous as a home-grown system if you've never even installed a kit before. At least if you had some experience with kits, you might have a better idea of the differences and how to handle the materials and all. Without any experience though, it sounds like trying to do-it-yourself here is really dangerous.

they have something like this already.....its an intake filter with a port on the end of the filter and you inject the NO2 this way.

Umm... where to start

NOS is a product trademark name, not a gas.

N2O is a gas, which is two parts Nitrogen and one part Oxygen on a molecular basis.

N2O is NOT (NOT NOT) flammable. Contrary to what the fast and furious would have you believe, N2O by itself can not explode.

Combustion requires three elements. Fuel, Oxygen, and an ignition source.
N2O is an extra oxygen source. N20 can provide a higher concentration of Oxygen than air, which is why it is used. If you open a N2O bottle in front of a spark plug, nothing would happen.

Now for fuels there is gasoline, propane, methanol, etc. Using these in conjunction with N2O would cause a lot of combustion and if contained, a good size explosion if a spark was introduced.

My suggestion is that before doing any mod to your car, you should have a general and accurate knowledge of how and why it works. If you don't understand what N2O is, and how it works, how can you possibly tune your car to make it work for you.

BTW the reason that N2O is so dangerous on engines, is that it causes the Oxygen to Fuel ratio to go much higher than is safe, or what is called a lean condition. Without adding the proper amount of extra fuel, you can cause the temperature in the engine to become too high. If you add the proper fuel, you will burn more of it, thus gaining more power.

ugh... first off vietxscapeD, NOS (Nitrous Oxide Systems) is a brand name developed by Holley. The term you are wanting is N²O or Nitrous Oxide. Secondly the gas that is inside a cartridge that you would us to shoot a pellet gun is full of CO² not N²O

Finally N²O is a nonflamable gas. It is an oxidizer.

i don't know why everyone gets so made when someone calls nitrous "NOS". we all know what they mean.

Anyway, if you want to use Nitrous Oxyde in a car, use it kinda often without damaging the engine, you better check how it costs to add some good parts that will hold that power. It's not cheap to add NOS in a car that you plan to beat daily

N2O, NOS, anyway, don't flame for that, we all know what he means.

By the way Purecoda, that intake by zex looks awesome, nice find!

Peace

If he doesnt even know the correct terminology then he shouldnt even be thinking about trying to make a kit. Read up and be knowledgeable about what your trying to accomplish, especially when it comes to higher risk engine modification. Then post your ideas.

So your fun is to flame people?
...
wow...

Anyway, using the word NOS everywhere instead of the Nitrous Oxyde just prove one thing, that company have a good marketing cause we use that name for describing a product.

my 2 cents...
