Engine bolts

Okay, so I have finally put some good $$$ into my car (about 3K and the last 2 weeks), and part of that is a new valve cover, header, and soon tb and intake manifold... But the thing is all my engine bolts are nasty looking... Does anyone know of any aftermarket stainless bolts I can get, or should I just get the stock ones from the dealer (and get raped in the process)... Any input on this would be greatly appreciated....

Thanks
Steve

I guess I could that... but my valve covers ones are all rusted and nasty.... I'll just go to the dealer and get new ones... And just clean them regularly when I clean my engine...

get some Gunk Spray and clean the engine. It degreases everything and it should give your engine some shine.

Stainless won't be strong enough. The alloys used to resist oxidation also make most stainless steels brittle.

What bolts are you talking about, anyway? If it's just the valve cover bolts I recommend you get a rock polisher (like the kind in hobby stores for a handful of rocks) and use small ball bearings or some other lightweight tumbling abrasive to clean the bolts. Then I'd paint them to match the car or valve cover. I think Harbor Freight is having a sale on rock tumblers.

I love Harbor Freight! Once you clean your bay/bolts, be sure to clean it regularly. It's much easier to keep it clean than to try and re-clean it.
