A2-Design Twin Throttle Body Intake Manifold
Updated: 11/14/06
So far: It came in the mail, they look great. I think I've figured out the piping. Won't install them for maybe another week or so.
Check out my cardomain for new pics on front page.
OK, I have decided to be the guinea pig for the A2 Designs Twin Throttle Body Intake for the Lancer. I'll be using this thread for questions, installation, and review (that is if no one else gets it first
).
I planned on ordering it today but found that the price had gone up a little and something was removed from the package (they used to include what was titled: FPR gauge b/s/r. I figured it was just a FPR). So I PMed prench with some questions and as soon as I hear back from him, I will be placing my order.

So for my first question...
I have an 04 oz and this manifold is a 4G93 modified. I know those can be fit to the Lancer. But because I am an 04, my fuel return is absent. What will I have to do to fit this to my car? It comes with the manifold and fuel rail. Thanks.

i think there are other mitsus with 2.0 mivec, possibly evos? But yeah as soon as I get them in I'll write up a review. But since it doesn't come with an FPR, should I wait to install it till I get one, or should I go ahead and just never floor it until I get one. I believe as long as I'm not pushing it hard, a FPR wouldn't be manditory right away giving me time to save for one.

yes, lets keep this focused on drucea's task at hand.
drucea, i'm interested to know what your plans are for maf and air filter placement.
i'm begining to consider this stg 3 as well. what are your thoughts. sorry if you already posted this in the other thread.

I got the reply from Phillip. He's a great guy. He said the website is really just a hobby cause he works at sea world and gets weekends off. Thats why he keeps things cheap. SO he doesn't make a lot off of each product like companies that rely on their product profit. We got things worked out and I'll be placing an order withing the next couple of days. I'll let you guys know how it goes.
So for my plans. I'm going to see if i can reach the maf over the headers...but I'd want a lot of heat wrap. Can I get that at homedepot? then I'd want to see about getting aftermarket headers, then sending them to prench to get ceramic coated, unless they are from rrm.
But in reality, I already have the K&N short ram, so i might get it coated back (like the rest of the tubing) and use it (since it makes a U basically) to have the MAF and filter over by the battery, almost behind it. Not sure on sizes yet so i have to wait to see where it all fits.
Sorry if this is all confusing. I'm really tired. What matters is that it all made since in my head. You'll see when I get it. Glad to see interest.

I'm sorry, but coated headers with heat wrap will still melt the MAF. Coating and heat wrap lower the level of heat slightly. They don't make it cool. I promise you that the MAF will melt the first time you drive the car if you try that.
Not trying to be a jerk, but I don't want you to have false illusions.
Also, header wrap isn't at Home Depot. Hit up Autozone, etc. Summit is where I go, FWIW.

Thanks, yeah I was really doubting about that maf position so i will be routing it back over to by the battery. If the K&N tube doesn't work right, I'll be getting a custom pipe made for it.
i've seen heat wrap at auto stores. not sure home depot has automotive grade stuff where it'll be subject to engine bay heat. i kinda get what you're saying. hope you can get it over there behind the battery. if not, grab an evo battery tray and just move the battery back so you can put the filter behind the driver side headlight.
rrm throttlebody has a 59-60mm aperture that flutes to the 65mm opening as opposed to having it 60mm all the way through. this is to speed up air as it passes through the throttlebody.
it's probable a 1G DSM throttlebody(stock 60mm, bored 63mm) may work. at the moment, me and another can't get rid of the 2k-2.5k high idle. it'll throw a code. i've yet to try and switch out the IAC motor, which seems to be the problem. i drove with it for awhile and i loved it. too bad i couldn't fix the problem.
