I think he asked for the price of an evo engine. What does a engine go for? Worry about the install price later..lol

very true, cause it all depends on where you live and who you know. I'll look for the thread about the guy that did the swap and see how much he paid for it.

God I hate these threads, why do people assume that since engine swaps are easy in hondas they'll be easy in mitsubishis, ,mazdas, nissans, etc.? The simple answer is that yes it is possible, but it will cost a lot of money, possibly more than the car is worth. If all you want is more power, turbo the engine you have. If you want to be unique, go nuts but be prepared to be without a car for a few months.

the minds of youths today. is this the after math of the fast and furious generation? why not spend the money on the real evo instead of making something that is not, or rather why make a grocery hauler into a race car when it is, after all, a grocery hauler? to make it an evo spec, you'll need the engine and all the suspensions that makes the evo what it is. the amount of money and labor will be going into the project is mucho mucho. if you want to have a faster car, then why don't you do a built motor and a turbo kit? it is a much more feasable task and much cheaper. but all in the end, to each his own.

Some people like having "projects". Me personally would just by an EVO but what would be more fun then sneaking up on a evo in a lancer and either keeping up with him or smokeing him (depending on your mods to the engine). IS the $$ worth that satisfaction.. thats up to the person to decide.

on another thought. an evo motor at less then 3 grand. A turbo kit from rrm can run up around 4500...... install is nuts but what is the fun of a project without the challenge? haha

I'd rather make the stock engine fast enough to beat or keep up with an evo, which you could do with 10000$.

I personally agree.
This subject has been covered to many times. Its all up to the person and how much experience they have and/or how big their wallet is.

And how desperate they are to be unique.

too bad that price on lancershop is just for a bare block with the rotating assembly(pistons, rods, crank), you'll need alot more than that to complete the motor.

Personally, i think having an es, or a oz w/ 250 horse is way better than buying an evo stock ..... I think its more of the journey and the rebuilding process that is fun. Pumping that much horse out of a block that was originally 120 HP is just sweet. Its true, it's all how you look at it I guess.
