Oil choice

I am about to get my oil changed with 5w-30 Mobil 1 fully- synthetic. Everytime I drive my car I hear a tiny bit of chatter under the hood. I am assuming its just the valves with the thin oil. Should I switch to a thicker oil on my next change? I am going to go with Mobil 1 no matter what, but should it be Fully- synthetic? 5w-30?

I have about 37000 miles on the car and I bought it with 24100 and have had for about 14 months and I am gettin close to my 3000 mile mark on this oil. I usually get it changed then.

The 5w-30 should not be a problem, but according to the manual you would only need to run 5w-30 in colder temps and run 10w-30 the rest of the time.

Right now its extremely cold in Missouri. Should I stick with fully-synthetic though?

The chatter is normal. Lancers have noisy valves. That's nothing to be concerned about. And it's not a reason to change oil. My Lancer chattered on Mobil 1.

In my honest opinion, getting that oil is a huge waste of money. Use the cheapest oil you can find and change it every 3k. Your car will run the EXACT same as it doesn on synthetic (which costs 4x as much). The main reason for synthetic is that it takes longer to break down. So if you change your oil every 3k, the synthetic is not needed at all.
