That just looks like a resistor...

Let me put it this way. If it sounds too good to be true, it most certainly is.

This is a waste of time and money. If you're serious about fixing up your car, check the US LANCER UPGRADE PATH, on the main page.

Keep away from crap like this. Just a friendly warning.

That's a resistor. I can't quite make out the stripes' colors or I'd tell you what resistance. It's worth a dime or so. It may also damage things in your car I'd estimate. It will fool your car into mixing fuel/air improperly by screwing with the signal from the MAS to the ECU.

Sorry dude...

dude.. i think i know what its trying to do.. its trying to make your computer think that the air going into your engine is colder then it really is.. that is a bad thing.. not good for the engine.. i would stay away from it bro.

Hey this thing reminds me of something else I was thinking. Our MAS has a plate of some sort to detect how much air is coming in right? And that plate restricts a lot of air flow? Well I've seen on other cars where the MAS doesn't have a plate, instead theres a thin wire type thing in its place. It seems like that would restrict a lot less air. Would it be possible to put a MAS like that on our cars?

Don't worry, I bought the exact same thing (even the directions look identical) off ebay for $1 last year, never put it on for the same reason.

sorry dude, those are Hotwire mass airflow sensors. they they only sense the mass of air coming in. ours are karman vortex mass airflow sensors and have other sensors bulit into our unit. i think air temp sensor, barometric sensor, and something else is built into ours so it can't be swapped unless you get a standalone ecu. *i think* some standalone ecu's allow you to use those big *** mustang cobra hotwire MAF sensors. that would be cool.

A looooong time ago i asked around about the possibillity of changing out our restrictive MAS sensor for a hotwire style MAP (that is what it is actually called, stands for Manafold Absolute Pressure) sensor Those in the know told me that while it would be a worthwhile mod, you would have no way of making the stock ECU recognize the signal, so you would have to get a stand alone engine management system. hmmm lemme see if i can find the post....(Time passes)....Ahh there it is. It doesn't seem that there is any additional info in it than is already in this post. Here it is anyway in case anyone cares
