Old News!! 4G64 Swapped Into A 2002 Lancer
sWAPing to a manual is easy, I did it on my 97 eclipse gsx kept searching and searching the forums , found a guy 12 hours drive from me, hopped in the car drove to his place got everything, (transmission , rear end, transfer case, drive shaft , front axels , rear axels, shifter cables, shifter , pedals, had to get flywheel and clutch kit of ebay as well as the shifter boot) paid him 850$ for all of it , another 300$ for the exedy clutch kit and fidanze lightweight flywheel , took days of forum reading and 20 hours or so of mocking up/turning wrenches... its not hard to drill out the factory indention were the clutch pedal is suppose to go thru the firewall for the mastercylinder.

MY problem isn't doing the actual work, it's finding a manual lancer that I can take everything from. Most people who have everything needed live either extrememly far or the entire thing isn't in their hands.
Before I do all that I need to know what's up with your engine swap
if it gets done and I can see how it all goes I'm going to do the manual swap WHILE doing the engine swap.

tried making a hybrid axel
1.tried just swapping the eclipse inner to the lancer shaft using lancer bearings it allows for to much play. about 1/8 inch or so.
2.tried swapping the bearings from the inside of the cv boot from eclipse shaft to the lancer shaft, the spline are different.
06 lancer ralliart driver axel will not work tried it...
Other thoughts are to grind the splines out from the inside of the bearings and weld it to the shaft, last resort so of thing.
tried using the factory lancer passenger mount, you can drill out the holes to make it work on mounting it to the engine but it is still 3 inches towards the front of the car and 2 inches to high(this can be fixed by puting a 2x2 steel tube under it but it will look like crap), besides i like the look of the mounting bracket that rpm ruffriders had made for his...
tried using the eclipse mounts on the transmission. the firewall mount wont work it puts the bolt hole about 3 inches high than it needs to be, the front mount wont work either it does the same thing , it seemed to me that i could use either driver mount they looked alot alike so I bolted the lancer one on there but now that i have the motor and tranny in the motor bay and mounted it looks like the motor is at a slant towards the passenger side. I think this will be resolved by using the eclipse mount because the eclipse mount was about 1/2 to an inch higher , I will try this tonight. the only other thing i can think of is to put a couple washer spacers in place to make it level out more... we will see..
1. swap the firewall mounting bracket from the lancer tranny to the eclipse tranny, lancer bracket is held on by three bolts ,on the eclipse transmission it will only be held on by 2...
2. swap the front tranny bracket from the lancer transmission to the eclipse transmission it is held on by 2 bolts and will be secured the same way...
the eclipse axel splines on the wheel hub side are the same spline as the lancer's

Wow it's been a while. You guys have gotten a lot of info. on this swap. I was thinking about your hood clearance prob. You could put some washers to prop up the rear of hood, it would be a double win since it would add more clearance and keep the engine a little more cooler.
Its just a thought.
Good Luck.
BTW I know it would coast more but why not have the Axels made I'm sure some one could do and if you can get some like driveshaftshop.com to make then you can tell them if it works out more a likly to fellow suite

ok, idk why theres a need to make custom axles. swapping the tranny internals will by pass all of this.
OOOOOOOOOOOOR...JUST swapping out each tranny's differentials. THAT is something I didnt think of before. you would retain the internals of the eclipse tranny just change out the diff's. IN THEORY it should work since all the internals are swappable. if you were to JUST swap out the diff's it could be another alternative.
DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMN IIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT!!! i need to find a damn lancer shell!!!

btw those front end pictures are with the motor installed , so there is not any hood clearance issues ... yes it does put the engine closer to the hood and may cause fading of clear coat on carbon fiber hoods because of the heat.... and the pictures with the motor looking like its slanting is because of using the factory lancer mount on the driver side top of tranny , you must use the eclipse mount...
She is running moving this off into my own build thread now here it is....
