RRM axleback exhaust discussion thread
I think he means that after you've fit it once, it does a good job of remaining in that same postion, instead drifting to one side or the other due to heat, bumps, etc. And I know there's no harm in un-bolting and trying again.
Ah i see what your saying. Mine stay's perfectly in position although it isnt in the right position. I already tried to unbolt it and bolt it back up, but didnt bolt one bolt all the way down first, I did them in stages. Also maybe I will leave the passengers side bolt to last hoping that it will pull it that way

im impressed, you have a cvt?? that pulley must really help that motor rev, because your car seemed to take off as quick or quicker than mine with a manual. sounds good...
Update:
Ok so I know what Brad was telling us could be the problem, thanks for your help but that’s not it. I was trying all these different combinations to bolt it up and found the one he was talking about. If you bolt one side down (the driver’s side) all the way before even putting the other bolt in, it will pull it completely under the bumper.
I tried holding the tip where I wanted it and bolting it up, I tried holding the flange (sp?) in the position that kept the tip where I wanted it, I tried tightening one side down all the way then the other, and vice versa, I tried tightening it in stages. The only way I have found it to work is to crank the passenger side bolt down all the way and let the drivers side bolt be a bit loose, that keeps it straight, but once you bolt the drivers side bolt down all the way it pulls the flange (again sp?) left and the tip left.
To be fair to RRM, I tried calling on friday and got the answering machine so I couldn't ask them for anymore advice, but I am not retarded I was an apprentice for a year and two bolts on a muffler shouldn't stump me this bad.
I am completely out of ideas so I am going to the muffler shop across the street today to have them re-weld it on straight. It’s a shame really, but I can't take it anymore
Edit: To anyone who is looking to buy this system I would recommend it, I know it probably sounds like I am ragging on them for this but it really isnt that bad. I took it to the track for the first time with it on and I was 1.5 seconds faster in my lap time and the sound is unbelieveable. The product they are selling is good, the two issues I have had, Stupid boarder costs (which RRM can't do anything about) and the tip are pretty minor when it comes to cars. No CEL, no false promises
Overall
to you guys for a good product, sorry if I made anyone mad over this but it was just driving me nuts because I felt like I was the retard who couldn't bolt up an muffler.
I am going to talk to rob after I am done lunch here and see if we can work this out. Who knows maybe i am a ****ing retard

Ok so I just talked to rob and all I have to say is wow. I am in awe of how that was handled and props for being a straight up guy about it.
The issue was that the hangers have become bent in shipping (which isn’t unusual, I will agree) but from my point of view I didn’t see how they hangers were really affecting the position until rob explained it to me. So in actuality it was my stupidity that caused it to not sit right.
And to be fair it wasn't out by much, but being someone who does engineering designs all day causes me to notice the smallest imperfections.
I will not edit the last few posts so others can follow what the hell just happened but yeah good on you guys and you will definitely be getting more business from me, especially after talking to you today.

How does the exhaust sound when you turn the car on? Most of these videos (from what it sounds like) have the car already started before they start filming, and I'm really interested in hearing what it sounds like as the engine turns over. Or is it not even noticeable?
Thanks. The first few are already started, but I think cosworths has him starting it up. Doesn't seem too loud on the start up, which is slightly disappointing. If anyone can let me know if it's louder in person than on the video during the start up, I'd appreciate it.

No pun intended.
