RRM axleback exhaust discussion thread
I just installed my rrm axle back exhaust yesterday and it does 3 things:
1- Boosts performance
2- Looks way better than stock
3- Sounds just right
I have the CVT model. For top speed runs I alway leave it in full auto and I'm getting a solid 500 rpm gain. It also feels like it has more overall power throughout the entire powerband. Definetly more free-flowing now.
At lower speeds (less than 100mph) I use the paddle shifters. The exhaust note as I shift sounds great to me. Sporty and racey, not ricey.
The tip hangs out past the bumper just the right amount and looks especially better than stock from the side.
My only install tips would be:
1- use the rubber coupler that has the two mounting holes inline with eachother further rearward.
2- use the rubber coupler that has the two mounting holes 90 degrees from eachother on the mount thats further forward and make sure to pull it past the first bend on the metal hanger on the muffler and no further.
3- Then I tightened the two coupler bolts down to almost snug and then little by little, maybe 3-4 cranks of the ratchet each, back and forth until all the way tight.
It really solid and hasn't moved an all.
I also previously installed the rrm short ram air intake. The combination of sri and the exhaust go hand and hand. I didn't like the sound of the sri by itself but the sound is now overpowered slightly by the exhaust. Perfect now.
Thanks goes out to Rob and Brian and Road Race Motorsports. You guys put together some great products for the 2008 Lancer. I couldn't be happier and would reccomend to anyone looking to get more performance from their Lancer.
