I tried my best to read through all the pages throughly to see what people think and so far i see that MANY like the tone. That's part-1, taken care of. ( i wanted something quiet)

but what i didn't really notice is what people "felt" from the exhaust. I don't want numbers, did this engine feel like it "needed" an exhaust? or did you experience minimal punch?

some engines, it seems, respond much more to mods then some others.

for you seasoned folks who tune imports did this engine feel like it "needed" some more free flow? as far as i understand the stock exhaust-system is heavy as hell right?

It depends on what you want.

Free flow generally causes two things. Loss of lowend torque and gain of highend horsepower. So deciding whether or not it "needs" freeflow is an opinion game.

Now, I haven't personally installed the RRM exhaust, so I'm going theoretical. I don't know how much it alters the system and whether or not the loss/gain I explained above actually happens. Every car responds differently.

Too free of a flow did not work well on the 08 Lancer. We tried 4 different variations. This is the one that gave power overall without taking away low end torque. Making exhausts or intakes in not like legos. It requires a bit more to do correctly.

It's nice hearing there were several attempts at making the most hp for the engine. If this is thee best of the variations, that's good to know.

THe first coupler prototypes we built were not worthy of the RRM name. We just kept at it till we found the right one. I cannot think of a way to improve on the version we sell now.

Its not hard to get it to hang in the center you just have to work the rubber hangers on it in the wright place maybe 5-6 minutes of adjustment at the most. And the first chance you get you should drop that stocker muffler off your ride its freakn huge. And buy freeing up the backside of your motor the SRI will able to do its job even better. The way I look at it is the intake and exhaust are a HP package and the pulley and piggy are another for max performance out of them both, this seams to be a widely used combo for bolt on power upgrades. I want to drop a piggy on mine but my pocketbook is flowing towards a much larger purchase.(my 1st house)

P.S. And it will for damn sure have a heated gargage for my whip.

Isn't the RRM a Magnaflow canister? Are you just looking for the Magnaflow namebrand, or what?

Just hit the video thread in this forum and listen to some RRM exhausts. See if you like the sound.

i kinda do like it, i just dont' want that **** to be loud, i want it to sound nice and throtty like a sports car, but nothign that you can immediatly say that car has a exhaust on it. you understand? I had a RRE magnaflow catbak for my eclipse, and let me tell you i loved it, so i noe RRM would follow with a great muffler for us, maybe they use the same canister?

You'd have to ask RRE/RRM about using the same canister.

As for the volume, like I said, just listen to the videos and see if you're happy with it. Not much else I can suggest unless someone nearby has one that you can listen to and test drive.

My RRM Magnaflow exhaust purchased around August already started to rust horribly... after removing it sanding it down and removing 90% of the rust... i had to repaint it with hi-temp flat black spray paint.

I dont understand, it makes me wonder if Magnaflow makes efficient parts, or whether I got a bad batch or whats the deal... i can careless but im a little pissy about the whole thing. Spending up to 300$ and it wont even last a solid year.

I would like to hear other peoples comments if any too... other than that i dun see anyproblems. but rust on pipes isnt good i can say that much.
