Yup, it's normal man. I got a 06 Es that does that. And "METALLY" is a good word for it.

incidentally enough, my 06 did the same thing since I got it, but after the seafoam, it actually went away, so you could always try that...

I have an 04 Lancer 2.0 Auto with a louder tick/knock at start up that is noticable at idle. It mostly goes away once warmed-up. The noise seems to go away when put into gear too. Any worries on my part. Car has 106k miles.
