THe update,

And No thats not me in the picture, but one of my welder friends
Well the switch to the MK2 exhaust is starting to catch up with us. The MK2 is a better sounding exhaust, performance gain vs. loss or status quo. On the negative side of it is, that the MK2 will require a cut in the main pipe about 3/4 of a foot in. The good news is it will be something seemless for a exhaust shop to recreate. This is due to the creation of a weld over Flex pipe attachment that will go on where the pipe is cut. it takes all the guest work out of doing fitment and deal with exhaust flex issues.
Many novices just weld a pipe into place and dont account for pipe movment with exhaust flow. In little time an exhaust pipe will crack due to this movment. If you look closely your stock exhuast at the muffler end has a visible spring mount to it that allows for this movement. Thats very important.
The first words from our welders / exhaust plumbers were. Man this F#*$#G PIPE!!!!!!!! no matter what we gotta cut. The section cut away will illiminate one bend/turn in the pipe. and allow a straight run at the mouth of the exhaust.
Is there any good news out of all this? yes, the goal is to allow have 2 variants of this project, a full ("cat 'and' back" *included), and a Stock weld on for those who are cheap like me at heart
muahhaha But the full pipe will be the performance choice of course.
Progress is slow and stead, again i will keep you posted

lol it wont be ready by then, this project is going to take forever, due to the fact that i only have one prototype car to work with. so all the other projects are over lapping.
Second, I dont have a local sponsoring Dyno Shop. I have one out in London that will do it free, but i need one in toronto.
sigh, your looking at Nov Dec before this is finalized. Plus need to make the peices duplicatable so there will need to be casts of final product, then changes for when the down pipe version is ready.
yikes..
but hey i will keep you posted
See you at the next meet

This is a cool project. I'm sure this isn't exactly your primary concern as of now, but has there been any more ideas as to what you're gonna do about the bumper? I saw you trying to find a somewhat inexpensive means of making this fit. Is there a clean way to just cut out a piece from the existing bumper instead of buying a kit? Good luck with the rest of it in the meantime though!

no fitment issues arent with the bumper, its with the downpipe link up, the final bend in the pipe leads to a very harsh counter bend piece that will end up robbing performance of flow by up to 10 %. cutting it away should slightly increase flow.
Bumper issues are not an issue because the exhaust tip will not be just at the bumper point , it will be protruding from the bumper by about 3 or 4 inchs. the install of the flex pipe will give alot of leeway for lining it up, and since I am making a few different pipes in the prototype, the length of the pipe is veriable. Some people like pipes not to stick out, some like it to.
I would like to have it stick out cause i dont want hot exhaust gas burning up my bumper.

The relocation of my friends shop isnt helping things, but its more my fault then his, I know he was moving this month. I may outsource this project to another shop just so that i can get it done before winter sets in
