I did not buy the rpw camshaft, i got a camshaft out of a 97 mirage with a manual transmition. The specs are pretty much rpw stage 1 for my car especially since i am auto.

Regarding the camshaft, mirage guys have been tooting this horn for a while. I figured i needed to put it to the test and put er in. Plus it is mitsu oem so i feel nice.
If this is going onto a head out of the car, it'll be cake! But if not, just use an overhead valve spring compressor and it'll not be hard. If it's anything like my sohc Civic head, the entire rocker assembly comes out as one unit after taking off the bolts.
Good luck!
Good luck!
I'm sorry for the previous, mis-leading post! All you'd need to do is:
1. Set the crank/cam gear to TDC.
2. Remove T-belt.
3. Remove coil packs & wires.
4. Remove valve cover.
5. Remove valve train bolts. *Heres where I have no proof, since I've never cracked open a Lancer head; but on my Civic, I remove 14 bolts and simply lift up and remove the entire assembly as one piece.
6. Remove the camshaft.
If you're afraid of messing up, then by all means have someone else with more experience do this. But if you simply remove the vc, you can get a better idea of how exactly the assembly is held in place.
Good luck!
BTW, lube that "dry" camshaft good in oil or assembly lube over night.
