Intake Gas Mileage?

For those of you with either a RRM Intake or some other intake for your 2008 Lancers, have you seen an improvement in gas mileage? How many more mpgs are you getting?

so long as you do not speed 100km/h you should see a 3 % or less increase in fuel economy, unfortunately if you do speed / drive agressive you will notice a 4 to 5% additional burn due to air/fuel mixture in higher RPMs and throttles.

i think otherwise, i use my lancer as a daily beater and i drive 20km to work (one way) in morning clear traffic... (speed 115km/hr avg), then semi-rush hour in the afternoon (speed 50km/hr avg, with traffic). i've priodically checked my gas bills for the past 4 months with/without SRI and this is the result of my testing.

the fuel consumption for SRI is around 9.3L/100km, not bad.
the fuel consumption for Stock is around 9.7L/100km.

so all in all, SRI does save you some gas overall, but not so much.
if you do the math, I can go ~535km in 50L with SRI, and ~515km with stock.. not bad i save around 20km of gas ($2 CDN) per fillup.

decrease in MPG of 5 to 6 (from 30 to 25) due to more oxygen being introduced = more fuel needing to be introduced to balance EFI and Enviro systems, and probably driving harder too

at low RPM this becomes less of a factor, your intake stock vs. sri, the sri removes restriction, (1up) sri allows for an increase in air, but you will notice an increase in fuel compensation only at higher RPM levels. If i understand mivec right.

My tests with other cars as well have proven this with CAIs, the only SRI i have run is on this lancer. all in all the results are ok, but i am guessing there will be even more performance again.

The perspective I am looking at is engine performance in efficency, an increase in any fuel to the ratio is out done in net engine efficency gain. only in the mid to upper rpm is the efficency out weighed by the fuel burn.

Yes i know that doesnt sound english, i posted on this before on another forum with some results with 400km of testing. I will try to dig it up and share it.

It is a test I am looking to recreate this winter with a project coming up for our lancers. just waiting for the release of a CAI so the results can be rattified across the board with SRI CAI and STOCK

Wouldnt you have to reset the ECU as well so the computer can adjust to the new change?

well actually in theory if you do not reset and the computer is going by old values you will have a performance increase instead of a loss but after 50km or so the values will be the same, as cars get newer the more sensors they have in it, its not like the old analog days.

the performance difference wont be much. But on my other car, it was very apparent on the dyno, with a reset vs. no reset. but every situation is different every car is different, so with the lancer i can not verify but i suspect this is true.

Cheers
