These aren't cast iron blocks anymore, but open-deck aluminum with steel sleeves. To do it right, you'd be looking at (a minimum) of resleeving the block. With the price of rebuilding (a fully functional engine) plus parts, you'd probably be less upside-down trading in towards an '09 GTS once available. Down the road when the miles are racking up and parts/blocks become readily available (both new and used), it might become a little more economically viable.

Isn't 15 hp extra a little bit less for an extra 400 cc of displacement. I kinda feel like the 2.4 can do better than that.

And good luck with any forced induction on a stock 4b12 with a 10.5:1 CR, that will be even more of a pain getting some good RELIABLE gains, than on a stock 4b11 with a lower CR

will the new engine make the car noticeably faster, or will it just feel more responsive with the added torque

I haven't driven a 2.4L yet, but if the 4B11/2 is anything like the 4G63/4 it'll be the torque that makes the difference.

I just got off the phone with a dealer and it looks like the new 09s will only have a larger engine, no extra options like people rumored. No traction control, HIDs, or Rain Sensing Wipers, just the bigger engine in the GTS models...

thats kinda disappointing couse my wife wants one and the t-c, and hid's were a real big plus. the 2.4 would be nice beings that my previous car was 2.4 and i do miss the extra umph!

Ya I was thinking the same thing but I doubt simple NA bolt ons will make a difference like the 4g64 and the 4b11 because Mitsu does do a pretty good job on maxing out the NA capabilities of their engines(minus a restictive intake)

People who believe rumors deserve to be disappointed...

Just my opinion.
