Dealer wants $275...I called every junk yard in Tucson...only one had one on hand...wanted $150 I got him down to $100...
They even had to cut the bolts to get off airbox....I told them please dont mess up the foil! expensive mistake...

$100 for something as critical like your MAS is cheap. Lucky he didn't have to go to Satan.
$275 for an O2 sensor? WTF Theres gotta be a cheaper place, try NAPA or some other automotive store like that. I think I paid < $90 for a sensor for my GSX.

Actually, the quote was $217 for the O2 sensor from SATAN.
When I've bought my MAF off the 4g64, it costed me 40 bucks from the salvage yard. I know there are abundant 3g eclipse and/or galant 4-bangers being wrecked all the time.
why?
As for the MAF, all mirages w/ the 1.8 from 98-01 and Lancers from 02-03 have model #605. All 4g64 and the 6g72 (hopefully got this correct engine code) from the NA 3000SL and montero use model # 501. I forgot what the 2g eclipse use.
All the NA has the same connection pin width.
As for the EVO, I'm willing to bet they use the US spec 4g63T MAF.

Just to add to what Bahamut said:
The 605 series of MAF meters seem to be the same as the 501 series but with a restrictor as the only difference.
If you go to www.partznet.com you will find Conicelli Mitsubishi out of NJ. There you can get OEM Mitsubishi parts brand new for a much better price. Check the prices on the website and then click on the club DSM link. Now call the DSM parts order toll free number (have your VIN handy). You will get an even better price on most (but not all) parts than what was on the website through the club DSM discount...just tell them that you are calling for the club DSM discount. Remember they get calls from all over the country so they will want you to have everything ready to order right away or ask you to call back.
For example that $217 O2 sensor is listed for $167 on thier site and with the DSM discount it comes out even cheaper...

Hmm.. good point.. WARRANTY
All you really have to do, so you don't have to go out of your way to find a part, that might take you time to find. Take it to the dealer and have it all replaced. It's not like you have to stay there anyways, take it in for maintenance, tell;em u feel the car funny, and they'll fix it. You won't be there for them to ask you what happend. just bounce, and come back pick your Lancer up... badao... new MAF!...
gotta hustle my man
gotta hustle my man
A damaged honeycomb can only happen one way. Unless you revert your car back to stock and take the car back to them (and also assuming you've only taken your car there for all maintenance) there is no way they will believe you didn't tamper with it. At the very least, they'll say that your mechanic screwed it up and you need to takeit back to them to have it replaced.
Maybe I'm sore from my ****ty dealer... a while back they told me that my car died because somebody unhooked the negative terminal of my battery. According to this ****tard at mitsubishi, anytime you reset the ecu, it has to be reflashed. It took him 3 days with me in a rental car for him to figure this out. The service was so terrible I will never take it to a mitsu dealer again. It sucks because I have the extended warranty for 100,000 miles. I refuse to do the ecu recall because of this. Sorry for the hijack.

go to www.car-parts.com and get a MAS from a 1999-2001 mirage. The whole thing swaps in seamlessly.... ask me how I know
I didn't smash my foil but I blew the little resistor that's behind the foil (it's the intake air temp sensor) when I was wiring in my kill switch and the ECU was not at all pleased. I think I got it for like $35 plus ship.
EDIT: I think they call it an "air flow meter" on the site. In fact I found three for a 2002 Lancer (by searching for a 2000 Mirage- it automatically shows all parts that are likely to fit) for $20 each. I might just pick up a spare or two, just in case
