Did you win off the line? If so then did you miss a gear later or something? Not to be mean Yellow but I have to pin this loss to driver error.

sorta

well... i had almost a whole car length ahead of him at first... but then i accidently went past 6000rpm in 2nd gear.. and after that he caught up...and we pretty much went the same speed... i just didnt want to say that because...then it seems like i was just making up excuses... thats y i said if i had a couple bolt ones... it would be a sure win...

So you mean you hit the rev limiter then, which in second is at around 6300RPM. You must've hit the limiter for a long time for him to be able to make a car length up on you. Try racing him again only try this. Rev to 3800RPM dump the clutch quickshift into second at 6000RPM. Run second to 5500RPM and quickshift into 3rd. Run third out to 5000RPM and quickshift into 4th. Run 4th till 6000RPM and if he still beats you then I'll be impressed. I hope you know how to quick shift BTW cause if you don't then I know exactly why he beat you. BTW is this your first manual car?

well this is my first non-turbo stick... i used to have a gs-t and it had a lot of mods on it... (my older brothers) and i easily beat people with it... now.. with my lancer... if i mess up a little bit... that could mean i lost or won... well..yeah i need to race my friend again... i dont feel comfortable losing to a cavalier.. thanks for all your input

When you bounce the rev limiter, you can at most lose 3 secs trying to gain that speed back.

What yr model of the 'valier?

Holding your car nearly 4K rpm. That's crazy. If you have 14's, those stock tires will chirp and lose ground on the 60 ft time. I don't know enough on the 15's.

3800 is the happy medium launch number I found for the OZ. There's another way to launch the car but you need to be good at driving a manual car and it creates a delay while you get into the cars power band which is why the launch at 3800 is optimum because it puts the car right into peak powerband.

But you also have to wait for the tires to link up when you try that method SQL. Although I agree that it's the best way to launch in the lancer. Can't wait to get Rob's twin plate clutch.
