Question engine swap

I was looking on http://apparts.netfirms.com/ and they have a MIVEC 1.6 liter DOHC engine for $4400. I want to know if this will fit into my 2002 lancer OZ. stock this engine has 175hp and with few mods i was told would have over 200hp the engine code is 4G92 if that helps at all.

Man, who knows? The fact that it is the same generation maybe suggests yet, but, this would be the first I've heard of a possible engine swap. I think there is a sticky somewhere.

It's a possibility...at the least it'd have to be the the Gen 2 version that sits in the same direction our does. http://fly.to/mivec <---picked up from the Mirage boys.

Welcome to the hell of possibilities, restrictions, and hard-to-confirm fitment... we ES guys have been going through that for the past few months, weeks, year(?) with our suspension. I can't speak for paul, but, I'm too tired to go crusading again.

it fits, but I don't recommend it since the MIVEC isn't really fast as you think. I used to drive it when I was in HK, the feel is about the same when I am driving my mirage in NY & with over $4000 for just the MIVEC engine + probably $500-1000(labor), it's going to cost too much with only a little power gain (lucky the most are 40hp gain over the U.S. Lancer). so I would suggest turbo your Lancer with all that $ & it will come out better performance & save alot too becuz if you have problem with your engine, you can still get part in here, not like MIVEC, you have to get almost everything oversea to get maintainence which I don't think it's worth it. Just my opinion!

IMO, put the same moeny getting a turbo for the 4G94 will yield more return than swapping the 4G92, which no average mechanics in US have ever worked on it before.

Excellent point. I agree wholeheartedly. Didn't even think about the pricing, really.

the reason i wanted to know is that this is going to be my, you could say, my little secret, i have the funds and the time to set the engine in my garage and build it up, then when i get it all finished i will do the swap my self so that will cut down on the coast of labor and any othe coasts that might come up in the process.

That would be a kick-@ss project, however, you still have to figure out a way of obtaining parts from overseas...Although there MIGHT be a chance that the 4G92 sharing parts with the US 4G93 (1.8 on Mirage). You still need to re-map the ECU since they have higher octane level in Aussie

Good Luck. BTW, I still feel turbo-ing is the way to go

went on the mivec site, it said you had to use octane 98+ to yield the full power, which we don't have here....so it'll be pointless to get the engine...

so Road///Race Turbo all the way

Their octane ratings are different than ours. That's similar to our high octanes.

for that kind of money, i'd just think about possibly just getting the head swap maybe? uhm you're still gonna need to get an ecu or get something to control the MIVEC head.
i think it would be more worth while ot build up and turbo your present motor. or maybe a 4g63 possibly with its many options
