Question about Injen CAI system

Newbe here. I just put my RD devision Injen CAI intake on,( my first CAI Intake ) I works great! sounds good too. I live in Cleveland Ohio and it's Fall and it's most likely going to rain and snow alot this year again. I 'm going to get the splash sheild for the Intake. My question is should I get a bypass valve? (sold by AEM) Will it work with my Injen intake? Will the sheild be enough? Any info would be great. Also Thanks to everyone on the site the info for taking off the Front bumper really came in handy.

Hmmmmm, if you really got the RD division one, it should have came with the splash guard. Mine did.....But to answer your question, AEM bypass valve will work with your Injen intake with a slight mod. But to me, the splash guard is much better. It blocks away the debris, rocks and whatnot from hitting the filter bending the fins. I drove the car with splash guard through some heavy rain and water and no problems. It actually takes alot to get water into your throttlebody. Imagine sticking a straw with the open diameter half way into a cup of water, do you think you can suck anything out? Well intake works the same way.....

Don't do a bypass valve. They just suck in hot air from your engine ba. You will not have to worry about enough water getting into the intake to even get NEAR your throttle body. You basically have to have the filter completely submerged for it to act like a straw so to speak.splashes won't do anything but run right back out the filter. I have the Injen CAI and have taken some fierce splashes with NO splashgaurd and NO bypass valve. I don't have a thing to worry about , neither do you. I live in Wisconsin (very similar weather to Cleveland)

Thanks for the info all I'll just get the splash gaurd. NRG it 's the RD version alright if you look at Injen's directions on the last page with the figure of the splashgaurd on the intake in the top or bottom corner it says splashgaurd shown sold seperate.

Not quite...Current generation Galant/Eclipse/Outlander all have the 4G64 2.4L SOHC engine, Lancer is a 2.0L SOHC 4G93.
