drop in filter
#2
I've been wondering the exact same thing recently. I've always used K&N filters, but it seems people have had some pretty bad experiences with them on this forum. And the Works is twice as expensive as both the K&N and HKS...is it really worth the double the money??

K&N drop in Filter
I have a K&N panel filter that has been used for about 15 miles. It is still in the original box, and has the K&N stickers even. PM me if you are interested! Just sitting in my garage now.

I have the HKS filter(made for the Evo X). I would recommend getting the K&N filter because it's designed for the lancer. Or get whatever's cheaper, a drop in filter only makes a very subtle difference in power and a noticeable difference in noise.

ur better off getting an intake, this is like the gateway to the real thing. Ur gonna buy this, like the power it gives then end up buying the real thing. Save ur self the money on the filter and go for the real thing

Drop in vs SRI
I have both the K&N panel filter (drop in) as well as the RRM SRI. Power wise, no difference. 0 to 60 times were identical. Truly the only difference is the SRI makes your 2.0 sound more like a V-6. Which to some is not necessarily a bad thing. It is just preference. Why get a axle back exhaust. It has been proven that HP/TQ results are minimal; people do it to get the sound and make their car sound more powerful and faster then it really is. It is called deception to some, and to others they call it personal preference.

Yes it's clamped correctly, I checked it again after installation. By noticeable, I don't mean 'as loud as an SRI' but rather that there is more added noise than power. It's just that I can hear the engine a bit more.
