ECU compatibility through the years
ECU compatibility through the years
So Ive been trying to get ahold of a new ECU for a little while now and I seem to have found out tonight that my awesome deal I had to get an ECU for 30 bucks just fell through. They never took the money out of my account after a week apparently and I ended up spending it.
Well now I dont think Im going to get that ECU as the junk yard Im ordering through seems a little iffy about things. My question is, I have an 02 lancer MT and was wondering if I can put an 03 MT ECU in my car or if they differ. I have an 03 block and I really dont think there are differences between the two years. I could understand an 04-05 not working but please let me know if I can do this. I have used the search function but couldnt find the right words I guess to find the right threads. Senate if you read this, you are aware of my problem. Wonder though, even if the 03 ECU is incompatible, if its just fuel trim stuff and what not, could I gather the info off of my existing ECU with the tactrix cable and reflash the new 03 ECU with the existing info from my own 02 to make it compatible with my car? I ask about the 03 because I can get one of those for cheap as well but from a more reliable seller. Thanks guys and thanks senate in advance

Yea, it would be OK to use either an '02 or '03 ECU for your car. And, by the by, if you have a quick question like this one - just PM me. No point in opening a thread for a quick YES/NO.
