the 4b12 has a bore size of 3.5mm. the 4b11t (evo) has a bore size of 3.4mm. So the pistons won't fit. The stroke is also larger on the 4b12 by about 2mm so I do not believe you will be able to get the rods to fit and if they did, i think the engine would make less torque b/c the piston would not travel as far. Good rule of thumb, more bore, more hp, more stroke, more torque. I do not believe that the cams would work either b/c of the Mivec which is similar to vtec only instead of havind an additional set of cams for higher rmps, the cams can be advanced or retarded from the original position to vary valve timing. Here is a link to a good technical paper explaining the 4b12 and the MIVEC variable valve timing:

Why do you want 4b11 parts in your engine?

The head on the 4b12 might be the same as the 4b11, I'm not sure. I have heard that a EVO X manifold would bolt up to a 4b12 and 4b11 head so maybe the cams would work to, However, you would need a tune or the car would be cutting off a lot. I put revolver cams in my EVO without a tune and it was stalling everytime I let off the gas.

Keep in mind that the Evo is turbocharged, the Lancer is not. Pistons for the Evo would have a lower compression ratio and cams for the Evo would be designed to work in conjunction with the turbocharger.

Well, the pistons would be out of the question but with a tune I think the cams would work. The EVO cams are just more aggressive than the Lancer. The EVO cams probably have a higher lift also to allow for more air to come in and out of the head.

They're designed for a turboed car though, you wouldn't be fully using them on an NA setup.

Yeah, I would not put cams on one of our cars unless it had a turbo.

If evo cams do fit then you should use some aftermarket ones. ANd I would also install a methanol injection kit. I had one on my EVO and I was able to set the boost at 32psi. You won't be able to set it that high but I don't see why you could not get somewhere around 15psi.

He should be able to push more than 15 PSI without methanol injection.

Yeah, maybe, I am just not familiar with our 2.4L engine. But, I had a 2003 wrx and those engines are an open deck. With methanol injection I was pushing 23psi with on problem. It all depends on the tuner.

If he's fully building the motor with all forged parts, 15 PSI should be easy.

Yeah, with a fully built motor I would push it. I don't see why you could not make some big power with our 2.4L engine. Do you know if the 2.4L has a semi-closed deck or an open deck?
