4B11/4B12 comparison

Ok, so i go to Mitsubishi and see if I can pull and EVO out, too expensive, so i go with the 2010 GTS. The EVO has been my dream car since Gran Turismo 1 was out, Manager tells me to go to him in 9 months and see what he can pull for me, in the mean time I have discounts at the dealership for the GTS.

Thought one: does my 2.4L, 168hp have potential for mods and be up there with the 2WD/FWD boys?

Thought two: should i make that move and see about snatching me up an EVO in 9 months?

Where am I able to get 4B12 mods like you can 4B11?? is the 11 better than the 12, how is it better?

so you already got a 2010 lancer....in 9 months you will owe about 4-6k more than the dealer will offer you on a trade in. i would stick with what u have ...or go for a used ralliart (20-22k)

hell no.... either wait 9 months to get the Evo or strick with the GTS....

you'll lost close to 10K for the trade-in alone.... excluding the price different of an Evo vs the GTS....what is the point...??

the point was moving towards the AWD capability, been reading on many of the forums and boosting up my knowledge, pretty new to the scene. All i have been able to look up are a few mods for the 4B12, where as the 4B11 has it all. I am not worried about what im loosing in value of the GTS as long as i keep it under 15k in miles, plus some money down. it being a new series in engine i just don't know if I can get it up there with some good numbers on HP.

you can turbo it.... RRM has the turbo kit... if this is something you're looking for.... $4K for the kit + labours

in terms of AWD..... to modify a FWD into a AWD... it's not worth the $$$..... you're talking about changing the transmission, AWD parts, EUC, etc... adding all this... it's same $$$ as a new car....

honestly... if you're not care about the amount of $$ you are losing from the trade-in.... then why aren't you just get the EVO in the first place....??

with the amount of $$ you lose from the trade-in.... you can do a lots of upgrade to your EvoX.....

you made the same mistake i did....you forgot to check the forums for sale section. I have seen Evo 8s on here as low as 13k, and they have good miles, no mods, basically a VERY CLEAN evo 8, for 13k......I wish i knew about this site before I bought my car, or I would probably be in an evo 8 right now

and yes, the only way to get power out of these cars is to go turbo

yea, i should have looked here before going to the dealership. the EVO was out of my budget at the time, i had a trade in involved. Its all good though, I can rock with a 2WD lance and mod as much as a i can until the industry catches on....

eventhough our cars do not have evo power they are still hella fun to drive and they are fast for what they are (an economy car).

A lancer in the 14's with bolt ons? I don't think that the bolt ons really do much besides making your car sound more aggressive. There's not much power gain for the 4B12 engines with bolt ons from what I've seen. For a big increase, you'll have to go turbo. The worst is that the 4B12 was only release in North America so there won't be as much aftermarket as the 4B11, but I read somewhere a while back that we apparently have the same engine as the Dodge Caliber SRT-4 Turbo engine. I don't know what's interchangable, but maybe you can look into that route.
